I've never been a patient or even had so much as blood work there. So.... how is it as far as hospitals go???

HI Wendy   I had my WLS at St Vincents, and then in April was admitted to Baptist for complications from an ankle surgery. I was there a week and couldn't have gotten better care. I only wish I would have had my WLS there since my care was AWFUL at St Vincent's. I have visited many WLS patients at Baptist and can tell you they seem to be well taken care of. Of course, no one wants to be there anyway, but I bet you'll get generally good comments from those who were there.

HI, I had my gastric there in 2005 and liked the care so much I used my bypass dr to fix a umbilical hernia in 2006 and now I am planning my plastic surgery there some time later this summer or fall. I live 3 hours away but would drive it every day for the amount of care I recieved there. Wishing you luck, Jennifer

I thought the staff at Baptist was tops.  Everyone was so kind and friendly.  I got a get well card from the surgical pre-op and post-op staff.  They said they were striving for all 5's on their survey, so i know it's a good PR move, but it is still nice! My nurses were really kind to me and I never felt the least bit embarassed that I was there for weight loss surgery or that I am overweight.  I felt no bias at all.  I really appreciated that. I hated that my room was so small and that I had a roommate.  We requested a single room but it was too crowded.  It wasn't as big of a problem as I thought, though.

Hey Wendy, This is just my opinion and you know we all have them. But I was at Baptist for my WLS and yes the nurses and CNA's where nice but if I hadn't known that I needed to get up and walk they wouldn't have pushed the issue and I am a nurse myself so I knew what i needed to do in that aspect. But otherewise it was ok, and if my husband hadn't been there I wouldn't have had no help as in bathing or going to the bathroom and believe me you will need someone to help you with your shower and going to the bathroom. If you get a semi-private room you r love one has to be out by 9pm
