I thought I read somewhere that the day before surgery would be liquid only, but I keep reading on message boards that it's liquid only for two weeks before surgery. Would someone please clarify this for me?  I'm a nervous eater and I can't imagine being on only liquids for two weeks BEFORE surgery!  But if I must, then I will. Info please.  Thanks, Amy

you will be on a 2 week liquid diet that you purchase from their office 24 hours before surgery it is a Clear liquid diet broth...jello...stuff like that I also am a nervous eater  but here I am on day 8 ....I wont say it has been easy...because it is not but if you are determined to do it you will. everytime I get in the cheating frame of mind I just remember the firm Dr. talking about compliance. if you cant comply he wont operate. he asked me about the nervous eating and asked how will I cope once food is not available to me? I told him I wasnt sure but I would find something. once I get some of this off I know Ill be able to excersize or go for a walk when I am stressed or nervous. if you want this bad enough 2 weeks is not a bad trade off.  when I started I was told 4 weeks liquid diet because of my weight....from seminar to consult I went on a healthy eating diet and managed to loose 20 pounds. so only 2 weeks for me!!! you can do it! just keep looking at the big picture! nutti

I am kinda looking forward to the liquid diet.  The only thing that will suck for me is that either I will keep having to cook dinner (for my roomie) or my roomie is going to fast food every night since I won't be eating.  But I won't be swayed, no no, this is too important for me to be tempted. I have been doing more cross stitching and needlework to keep me busy.  I am wanting to see how many projects I can do before surgery.  Maybe if I do enough, I can give them out for christmas.

actually the diet hasnt been so bad...the 3rd day was the hardest for me. I was VERY hungry...so much so I ate a hardboiled egg of which the yolk got stuck in my throat and I choked....my own fault serves me right.  oh and I liquified a chilidog on fathers day without the bun... but on that day I also spent 2 hours in the pool and went without one of the shakes. so I called it even with the calories. Im sure you will do better than this. use your blog to write it down.....or keep it in a notebook because Im telling you writing it down helps keep you honest and on track. and do start walking as much as possible. you are so close! Im excited for you! tell roomie cook own food or go out to eat. my family have been eating stuff I dont like and I make myself scarce when the eating is going on. sending positive thoughts your way! nutti
