How long?

Hello Everyone! I'm new to this board, but certainly not new to being overweight.  Now that I've finally made up my mind which surgery I want to have (LAP-BAND) and which doctor I want to use (Dr. Baker), I was wondering how long it generally takes to get approval and set a surgery date?  I've heard it can take 6 months or longer, but I sure hope that isn't the average! Now that I have my mind made up, I'm ready!  Ya know? Thanks, Amy 

It is good to make a decision!! Now you can focus on getting things rolling.  I had a RNY with Dr. Gibbs, and it took about 6 weeks to get my approval from insurance.  I had to file an appeal, and have all kinds of records sent to them.  Once i got my approval, the schedule was already booked for about 4 weeks.  It did work out perfect, because i was scheduled for vacation for the following week.  Otherwise i would have had to wait for 3 months, when i could get time off.  Just hang in there.  The time will go by faster than you think!!! Good Luck
