Fitday.com

I went on fitday.com and it confuses me! Ok - like this morning I had 1/4 slice of toast with 1 tsp of natural peanut butter and 2 tbsp of Special K protein plus. So when I search for bread - it comes us with the value for 1 cup of cubed bread - I know I didn't eat that much. Is there someway to make it so that it reflects the right amount? The only thing I found was where you can customize the fats, sugar, etc. but nothing on the serving size. I probably shouldn't try to do this while I'm at work. Maybe when I get home and can read the labels of what I ate I can figure it out.

I like sparkpeople.com better than fitday.   It seems like the food selection is much better and I don't have to guess quite as much.   On fitday I was always have to basically track everything myself as a custom food.   Sparkpeople seems to have things already entered and the serving size is more appropriate.    Check it out.

Hi Angie, You can't use fractions when it comes to serving sizes...use decimals instead. When you first start out there are a lot of things you have to load into custom foods since Fitday doesn't  know some of our foods. Check the drop down menus where the serving amount is. For instance, if you click on chicken breast it will drop down and ask you if it's boneless, weight before cooking, bone in weight after cooking, etc. It took me a couple of days to get it figured out.

I'll have to play around with it a little more and see if I can make it reflect what I'm eating. I guess I'm lazy. I look at the protein, fat, sugar, etc to make sure it's in the guidelines but then to figure up how different it is because of serving size - I just give up. Like the Special K cereal. It says a serving size is 3/4 cup - and it has 10 g of protein. But I only eat about 2 tbls of it - so I never get to the dividing it down to figure out how much I actually consume. That part of it has been tough. I really want to do the right thing but there aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with it all. Once I figure out how to use the fitday that will help with that part of it. Thanks for the info. AT
