introducing myself

Girl - the nurse got all over me for using chapstick!  In fact, one of my friends got a nurse to give me some of those sponge things to wet my lips with - and when the main RN came in she was mad. She told me that putting anything in my mouth or lips, even if I didn't swallow it, would stimulate gastric juices.  Who knew chapstick was so potent?!  However, I did use it and Hallelujah because your lips will be so dry for that first day.  It also could be a doctor thing.  I had Dr. Gibbs and those were his instructions.  Some of the other surgeons may not have the same opinion.  Just thought I would share so you don't get fussed at too :)  I'm such a rebel!
