introducing myself

Hi all, I'm Casey, and I am hoping to get my surgery date for a lapband this week.  Hopefully, it will be in July.  I have lots of random questions that I looking forward to finding answers for, both on this board and at my doctor's office.  Dr. Gibbs in Little Rock will be doing my surgery.  I am self-paying.  Insurance won't even consider paying for it.  But I'm going to take the plunge and have a happier, healthier, skinnier me in a year or two! Hi. Casey and welcome.  I'm a newbie here also. I have decided to do the lap bypass. I am going to be a self pay pretty much also. My insurace will only pay for a very small amount of it if any then I will be taking out a loan for the rest. I see you are going to get your surgery date soon thats awsome. I was at Dr. Gibbs May 25th seminar, I am guessing you might have been at the same one according to your time frame for a date.  Good luck and keep us informed. Tammie

Yeah, you and your husband were at the table next to me, i think.  I was sitting right up front by myself.  i recognize you guys from your picture. i'm excited!  now i'm just waiting for a date.  i thought she was going to call to set it up sometime this week, but i haven't heard anything yet.  i'm ready to know something!

My name is Cynthia, I had my surgery, lap RNY,  with Dr Gibbs on the 4th of this month. I went to his seminar on Feb 19, and it took almost three weeks before I heard anything from them. I finally called and left a message and within a couple of days I heard from Kay telling me what all was covered and what I would have to pay.  Just stick in there, I know the waiting is the worst. Hi Cynthia.. Well, guess we'd better get that loser's bench all shiny for you 'cause you'll be here soon! I'm a pt of Dr Gibbs and I can tell you, you'll do fine. Keep us updated when you get a date. She said he operates on Mon, Wed, & Fridays so maybe she will be setting dates in the office  while he is over in surgery tomarrow.  Hope you hear something soon.

HI Casey, I'm a Dr Gibbs pt too. Had my Lap RNY on 9/14/06, starting weight 235, current weight, 141, almost at goal!! Gibbs is the best, and his staff is wonderful. You'll be meeting with JoBeth the nutritionist before your surgery, but wanted you to know she will be speaking at the June 14th support group at Baptist. WHOOHOO!!!!!!  Got a date!   Surgery is NEXT MONDAY!  June 11th!  I'm so pumped.  Very, very excited.  Can't wait!!!!!! Thanks for all the support!  I'll need some more, I know!
