Newbie in need of some information....

Hello I'm new here and I have a few questions.  I'm 23 years old and quite a bit overweight.   I recently went to the doctor for strange feelings I've been having (Adrenaline rushes, tingling feelings in my skin and awareness of heartbeat).  The local free clinic physician diagniosed me with Hypertension and said I would be prime canadate for Gastric Bypass surgery. The problem I have is that I have no insurance or job hence I have no money. Because of my weight and appearance I have pretty much shut myself off from the world since I graduated High School 7 years ago.  I don't drive,  I don't go out and have fun and my quality of life really sucks.   Because of my hypertension situation I'm constantly aware of every slightest weird feeling I have and constantly worry that my time is ending. I am really considering surgery but I have no way of knowing how to get the funds and how to go about getting it.

My question is to the people that may have been in the same or similar situation as I am.   How were you able to pay for the surgery and does anyone know how I would go about getting the money to have the surgery?

I don't know if this helps but I had my family help me get a loan to pay for it. I don't know your situation and if there are family members that can do that for you or not.

I also am taking a loan for it.  I have heard so some people getting help to pay for it threw some type of unemployment job assistance goverment program. Maybe someone else can help you more with that, I dont know much about it. A coworker had it paid for this way because she was unable to work due her weight. You could call your local unemployment unit and see if they know anything about it.  Do you have goverment health assistance or applied for it due to disablility? You might check this out also. I think the only thing i actually have government wise is social security and an I.D.   I have no disability, bank accounts or anything.  Before my last 2 doctor's visits I hadnt even seen a doctor since when i was in 6th grade.  Sadly when it comes to the real world Im utterly glib.  I have no understanding of anything of that nature.  Ill talk to my family and see what they say and Ill try this local unemployment unit and see about maybe getting medicaid or disability.  Thanks everyone for the help.  It is and will be really appreciated.

Maybe a family member can cosign a loan for you? Hang in there... It will work out. Susan
