Update on my world!! (kinda long)

Hey guys, Just an update on life in the country.  I went back to the doc yesterday, to my PCP, to see if he has any ideas, b/c I am still running a low grade temp all the time and feel really crappy.  He drew 7 vials of blood and checked for many different things.  The nurse called this morning and said that the ones that they tested in his office were all normal, but we are still waiting on the ones he had to send of, tick fever, lyme disease, and several other animal born diseases. So I came home yesterday with a sore arm, and was still feeling kinda pititful. Yesterday evening my nephew went to the barn to feed and water horses, and hollered back "Hey Uncle Mikey, The Drug Lord (mikes $10k horse) is down!!!!!"  We went running out and sure enough, there he was, laying down, and you could tell he had been thrashing, but was laying lifeless.  We called in reinforcements (guys from the horse trainers, as well as the horse trainer) got him out of his stall, and he seemed to be paralyzed.  No repsponse from his back half at all, he could pick his head up and that was is.  We have been treating him for six months for Opossum disease (disease brought on by Opossums peeing or pooping on something and they eat it, a parasite forms on the brain causing neurological damage, usually deadly) and Sunday he was doing great, trainer rode him, and we were preparing to show him, as he showed no signs of the disease.  We felt great about him Sunday, took him to vet Monday had blood pulled and got the go ahead to ride him again.  The only thing that we can guess is that one of the lesions was still on his brain and it ruptured.  We called the vet, gave him a shot and hoped for the best.  Maybe it was for the best, but to our dismay, our beautiful Drug Lord (his registered name) has gone to Horse Heaven to walk with the best of the best.  Was a long night and will be an even longer day as we wait on a freind to come and burry him for us.  Keep us in your thoughts and prayers, as we have no children except for our animals.  And to add insult to injury, while we were dealing with our horse, we lost a little puppy!!  Kinda makes us wanna quit trying, but we cant.   Sorry this is so long, just wanted to give an update. Hugs to all of you, Rhonda :horse:

Oh Rhonda - I am so sorry for your loss of your horse (and puppy).  That is such a tough thing to go through and is as much an emotional loss as anything.  You guys will be in my prayers - AT

Thanks Angie, Yeah, mental and emotional as much as anything else.  If we have them we lose them, but that in itself doent fill the void!!!  He was such a gentle giant!! Rhonda P.S. Im loading a pic of him on my profile

Rhonda, I'm so sorry for your loss.  Losing pets, not matter how big or small, can be as painful as losing a loved one.  I'm thinking of you.
