Monday - WHAT?
I wore houseshoes and the hospital gown. My own gown pulled on my everything. Don't forget to take your lip balm, your lips will get so chaped and cracked. I took a lot of junk to the hospital and only used the lip balm and my house shoes and brush. They provided me with toothpaste and a toothbrush. By all means, if you are driving far, take two pillows to use. I had a six hour drive and those pillows were my life saver. You will do fine. Just remember, when you wake up and for a day or two, you are going to feel like what have I done, but it will pass. Walk, drink your water, and walk some more. I think that is the key to getting your strength back. Good luck.
Hi Angie,
I am so excited for you. You are going to do great. Like Jeannie said do not forget the lip balm. Take the kind that you like cause you will need it. You cant eat or drink for 24 hours and those lips get dry. Walk as soon as you feel up to it. Even if you dont, do it anyway. I was better and ready to go home and I think it is because I got up and walked. About an hour after my surgery I needed to go to the bathroom. They wanted to get me a bed pan and I said no I will walk to the bathroom. I was a little dizzy but did fine. Good luck and let us know how your doing.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!
I'm so very happy for you Angie, sometimes having things like this come quicker is a lot better than having to wait weeks and weeks. I think that was the hardest for me.
As far as your list of what to take, less is more. I bought slippers, never wore them, just went barefoot (felt more secure) bought a robe, never wore it, gave it to goodwill a month later. Chapstick, lip balm, Blistex, what ever you have to keep those lips moisturized will help sooooo much. Take your own shampoo, they never seem to have any that is decent, if you get any at all. Once I made the mistake of using soap and it took me weeks to get my hair back into condition. And yes, nothing makes you feel more comfortable than
I so wish I was able to drive and walk so I could get back into coming to see our "newbies", but I'll just stay here and polish up the loser's bench so you have a nice shiny spot to come home to. Best wishes on a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!!
Your friend,
Susan
