I went and got myself some protein powder and am now starting my day out with an 8oz shake in the am. I want to get in the habit of drinking such things and get used to the flavors before I have surgery and try to loose some weight before I go to my consult May 31st. does anyone have like a shopping list I could follow like to stock up for after surgery. I want to be able to concentrate on the things I can have than the things I cannot. any help with this would be fab... I have Susans list she posted a week ago or so so anything else would be appreciated! nutti

Hey Nutti, I ate pretty much the same things on Susan's list, but I also ate lots of Chicken Noodle Soup broth, it has more flavor than just chicken broth, and you can get the reduced fat kind. I also ate lots of pureed tuna fish, and canned chicken in the mini chopper. Sugar free jello was my salvation for something sweet, and now that I am 3 months out, I find that I dont crave sweet as much as I do salty. Peanut butter was good too, for something different. Good luck with your journey, Dr. Baker will be wonderful, and take great care of you. Hugs, Rhonda

Hi there, I just wanted to throw this in. Your tastes may change after surgery so what tastes good to you now may not taste good after surgery. Just wanted to warn you about that. You have the right idea on getting in the habit now because it will be a daily routine after surgery. I had the same doctor as Susan (Dr. Gibbs) so I have the same list as she did. I honestly can't remember what I ate, those first couple of weeks are a blur to me. I do remember eating the Chicken Noodle soup broth that Rhonda mentioned and tuna. Dr. Gibbs doesn't require a pureed stage, we go straight from liquids to soft foods in 6 days. Sugar free (or no sugar added) popsicles are good right after surgery, they count as daily fluids. You won't need to buy much because you'll be eating so little. Good luck to you on your consult, let us know how it goes. Take care, Denise
