Newbie needs help
I really need some help. I really want to have gastric bypass, but I am a full time student and have no insurance to pay for it. I have heard about Arkansas Rehab, but don't know how to contact them or what I have to go through with them. I have heard that they can take a long time to approve you. Any help would be appreciated.
Just make an appointment to see a rehab counselor. Sometimes they can take a long time and sometimes not, just depends on the counselor. Make sure you stress how the weight is affecting you in the work place (or may affect you). Do you have kids, if so apply for Medicaid. One of rehabs main goals is to get people back on there feet so that they can contribute to the working world by working!!!!
When I went to the support group meeting at Baptist Hospital there were a few people talking about Arkansas Rehab, and from what I understand, in order for them to pay for the surgery you must do 2 years of supervised diets with them through whatever diet program they chose for you to do. They want you to try to lose as much as you can on your own, so they won't have to pay for the surgery. But people have had their surgeries paid by them, so if you do get ahold of them, be sure to do EVERYTHING they ask of you.
If your not able to work because of health problems you can apply for medicaid. They will pay for the surgery but require you have failed dietary attempts with a Dr or dietician over the last 18 out of 24 months.
I googled and this is what I found, I think they are the same ones who help with the surgery, just call and ask.
