2 months post-op
Well, I have now lost 47 lbs in 2 months. Start at 314 and now 267. I hope I am doing good with the weight loss. Still haven't started the exercise thng just hard to find time to fit it all in. Not getting protein either. Has anyone had problems with the protein shakes making you sick at your stomach and almost throw up? They do me and I don't know what else to do. My hair seems to be falling out little by little I don't want to shave my head like jeannie did.!! Well, everyone have a good work week.

Wow - that just sounds incredible to me - 47 pounds in 2 months! Congratulations. You've hit on one of my greatest fears. I don't have much hair to begin with and I can't afford to lose much or I will be shaving my head. I haven't had the experience yet so I'm not much help - but I'm pretty sure your protein and Vitamin D are very important for your hair. I know the others on here will be much more helpful than I at this point, but I did want to say congratulations on the obstacles you've overcome up to now. Good job! AT
Hey Tina,
Wow....47 lbs in two months is fantastic!!!! Bet you're feeling better already.
Now, let's get to work on that protein issue. What ARE you able to get down? What protein are you getting from food? What protein drinks have you tried?
According to Dr Gibbs and others, hair loss usually starts about 4-6 months out, some earlier, some not at all. Mine started at about 3 1/2 months, lasted until, maybe the 5 month mark, but was dramatic since I didn't start with much anyway. Being a bald hairdresser isn't a good thing, so I was very worried. It's starting to grow back in, and when I saw Gibbs last week, he said from here on out it should really start to thicken up.
Let me know about the protein thing, we'll go through PM if you want, but you have to get a handle on it!!!

Oh Tina,
I can not believe it has already been 2 months! You have done incrediable! I am proud for you girl.............you deserve 2 atta girls!
Saturday was my birthday and my hubby bought me a trreadmail. I have not done as much walking as Doc wants me to BUT now is NOT the time to be waiting. I have started a strict schedule for me to exercise. I can't do to much except walk now but I am finally walking. Tina, I know it is hard to find the time to exercise but you are going to have to find 30 - 45 min. a day just for you. YOU DESERVE THIS! DO IT FOR YOU! It is an investment in yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally! Put one foot in front of the other and BEGIN!
As far as the protien....well I ordered New-Whey protien bullets. They have 42g protien, 0 fat, 0 sugar. I ordered grape flavor and fruit punch. They taste like VERY SWEET kool-aid. I get it real cold, water it down so it is not so sweet and try to drink 1 a day. They are 3.1 fl oz. I have to have my protien for healing and to keep my skin in good shape as the weight comes off. Please try to find some way to get protien in. You need it so bad right now. The protien shakes taste different now than they did before surgery. Someone told me that if I would wait a week and try them again my taste buds may have changed.
As far as the hair........what would be bad would be : To be fat & bald! At least I can loose weight as I loose my hair! I have extremely thin hair anyway and I am like Jeannie...........I would just a soon be bald! Look at it like this, everyone tells me when it grows back it is almost always thick! Now that would be a nice change!
Girl, we just gotta learn not to sweat the small stuff!
Please think about what I said about the protien. It is really important to you right now and you are sooooo worth it!
Huggs to you,
Rhonda
