Help???
I am 21 years old and 220lbs. My husband and I have been saving money for some time for this surgery. I don't have insurance and will be paying for this my self. Any ideal on the round about cost. Also anyone live around the Jonesboro or Memphis area that could point me in the right direction to go to the doctor Holly Barnes
i did not have my surgery here.....but I do know there are a few drs in memphis
virginia mcgrath weaver and also a dr madan and dr woodman. I seen mcgrath-weaver for a follow up type appt. as for drs in little rock I cant help you there but the other ladies who post on here can. by the way...i live in marion.
my surgery was over 23 grand. are you having RNY or Lap Band? Two different surgeries and two different costs. just ask around here on this board the ladies are very helpful.

best advice...research both and do whats right for you. all we here can do is tell you what we have been through....each surgery has its pros and cons....and not one is better than the other because each surgery, each dr, and each patient and situation is different. so do not be swayed by people saying dont do this one or that one. each one has it complications......you need to research and then talk to a dr. yes RNY is more permanent....but it is also more invasive. Yes the band is adjustable....only you can decide. Cost wise...RNY is more expensive I believe. I am not sure.
good luck

Hey Holly,
1st let me say, to get the most updated information on the RNY or any or them, you will need to go to a seminar. They are free and all Docs require that you attend at least one before you are scheduled for surgery. To find out when and where the next seminars are, just call Dr. Gibbs office and ask or Dr. baker or whomever. That is what I did and I also found out the receptionist are very friendly and are eager to answer you rquestions. I attended 3 different seminars before deciding on a Doc for me. As far as price, all the Docs are about the same money. They are within 2 - hundred dollars of each other. I know Dr. Gibbs office will mail your packet to you with information on seminars and financial institutions that will finance the surgery. Here is the breakdown from my surgery 12 days ago and yes, I was self pay.

YOU WILL ALSO HAVE FEES SUCH AS PATHOLOGY THAT WILL BE BILLED TO YOU. THE PRICES ABOVE DO NOT INCLUDE CONSULTATION VISIT WHICH COULD RUN FROM $150.00 - $225.00
DR. GIBBS PRICES INCLUDE LABS BUT NOT ALL DOCS INCLUDE LAB COST. ALSO, IF YOU HAVE OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS, THERE COULD BE OTHER TEST PRIOR TO SURGERY. THIS IS ONLY WHAT I PAID AND IS ONLY INTENDED TO BE USED AS A GUIDE OF APROXIMATE COST. THE BOTTOM LINE IS I PAID $ 17,550.00 PLUS OFFICE VISIT.HOPE THIS HELPS.
