Hello to everyone!! I'm new to all of this......I had my first consult with Dr. Baker yesterday, and my surgery date should be in about 3 weeks. We're just waiting on the insurance company, we changed from an open rny to a lap rny. I am getting very excited, but scared all at the same time. My question is for my sister. Her insurance WILL NOT pay for the surgery, and she wasn't sure how to go about getting a loan for the procedure. If anyone has had to go through this, or know anything that could up us, I would LOVE your input. She is bigger than me, and I would love for us to get our lives back together. This message board is great, has helped calm my nerves a little .Thank you to all......

No, wait, I cant' take a bath right now, so **** no, wait, can't do that either because of the pain meds. I tell you, I'm messed up!

I know some people take out equity loans on their homes, but there are some finance companies who specialize in medical procedure loans. I think Citibank has one, but you might want to google "medical loans" and see what you get. There has been some discussions here and on other WLS boards that have mentioned them, but this is all I know. Good luck to both you and your sister. Glad you found us!!! Anything else we can help with, just let us know. If we don't know ourselves, we will probably know where to send you for some info. Take care Susan

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I have a phone number of a finance company that Dr. Gibbs' office gave me, they said several of their patients had used this company. I do not know the name of the company ( I didn't have to use them) but here is their phone number: 1-877-559-5050. It wouldn't hurt to give them a call and see what they say. I hope everything works out for you and your sister! Take care, Denise 33 lbs. and 25 1/2 inches GONE!

Thank you Susan, I thought I would never reach 30 lbs.! That was my first goal. I stalled for a while in the very beginning. Apparently my stubborness comes from deep within me, my body just didn't want to give up an ounce! Eventually it realized that I wasn't going to feed it the way I used to and is now being more generous with the pounds. Lately I've been losing about a pound every couple of days. And I'm still steadily losing inches, which is more important to me than the actual pounds. I bought a skirt for Easter the other day and was shocked that it was 4 SIZES smaller than what I wore last year I'm feeling great. I have my days like everybody else, but 99% of the time I feel "normal", whatever that is. So sorry to hear about your Achilles, isn't that the one you injured right after your WLS? I hope you're on the way to recovery. Take care, Denise
