Ok, I'm banded and home.
I did have a bit of a rough road yesterday, so Dr. Wellborn kept me in the hospital overnight. Apparently, my body decided to produce massive amounts of stomach and intestinal gas on its own. Anyway, I had alot of chest pain and a really hard time getting rid of it. My DH just kept tellin' everyone that I was full of hot air!! HMPH!!
Anyway, I'm much better today, just a little burpin' goin' on, I'm drinking my water and walkin' the floor until DH gets back home to help me with my shoes. (That's about the only thing I can't do on my own yet.)
I sure am glad I'm on the other side of the fence now. Dr. Wellborn was very attentive and the recovery room crew was great. As I'd already heard before from others, St. Vincent's Infirmary staff were quite slow in answering the call button. My IV alarm went off at 3:10 am and I got to listen to it beep for 20 minutes before the nurse came. Also, they kept tellin' me that I was allowed full liquids and I'd been told repeatedly by Dr. Wellborn and his staff that I needed CLEAR liquids for a week.
I'm goin' to walk the floor some more and burp some more, then I think I deserve a nap. LOL
Take care all...just wanted to keep everyone updated.
Yes, it was a laproscopic procedure. I have four little incisions in my belly. However, most people talk about the gas the doctor uses to fill your body cavity causing shoulder pain so I was expecting THAT. What I didn't expect was my own body's gas production to go into overdrive and causing so much pain. I was burping or passing gas every 5 seconds. I couldn't even talk it was so bad. OMG, you shoulda heard me "strolling" down the halls. I sounded like an Evinrude with a BAD miss. If it hadn't hurt so bad, it would have been hysterical!!! My DH said he was gonna start callin' me "Foghorn Leghorn." It's a darn good thing he such a good nurse!
