Hello, I am a 38 year old female from Heber Springs, AR. I had my WLS Dec. 20, 2006. I weighed 348lbs day of surgery, and as of today I weigh 293lbs :-D. Are there any other post op that can let me know how they are doing? And if you have any questions to ask me please feel free to. I have been doing this pretty much on my own. Monica

Hey there Monica. Sounds like you're doing great. I just hit my one year anniversary and it's been an incredible year! I started out at 328 and I'm down to 188. My goal has been 145, but my surgeon (I saw him yesterday) said he thought 165 was a better goal. So I'll just see what happens. I'm still following the plan. I can eat more now, so I track it pretty closely on fitday.com. I need to exercise more, but that will come with the warmer weather. I love to bike, swim and play tennis. I biked and swam last summer, so this summer I'll add back tennis. Best wishes and welcome to the AR board!! Margie

Hi Susan, another Susan here! Welcome to the site, you'll get lots of good info here. If you're still Doc shopping, I'll put my 2 cent's worth if for Dr Mark Gibbs. I had my surgery five months ago and haven't had a single problem. He doesn't require any liquid diet pre-op, bowel cleansing, catheter and does most of his surgeries lap. There are a lot of people here in AR who have used him for their surgeries and they are all doing very well. Good luck in your journey Susan

Hello Susan I went through Dr Mark Gibbs for my wls surgery and I think he was wonderful. I have not had any problems. I have only gotten sick twice and I think it because I ate to fast. I believe he has a seminar once a month. I had the open rny which I think he is partial to, but also very good at it. Good luck on your Dr. hunting. Monica

Hi Monica. I just logged on to the site for the first time and saw your post. I had surgery on Jan 31st and I have lost 36 lbs so far. Right now eating kinda feels like taking medicene as it isnt easy to stick to the schedule. Good luck with everything!

Congrats on your surgery. Looks as if you are doing well. I have a hard time sticking to a schedule too. But it helps in the long run considering that I have only two episode of getting sick. But trust me I am 9 weeks out and its getting better every day. good luck to you. monica

Hi Susan, I think Dr Gibbs was Wonderful, Congrats on your weight loss. I had been fighting my insurance company for about 4 years for this surgery, but they never gave in so in the 4 years i saved up money and finally had enough for my surgery. I am so happy that i did, and I feel so much better, I can hardly wait to see how I will feel at a year down the road. good luck to you monica
