HI Becky, I can't tell you much about Cabot, except that it's "north of the river". There's Little Rock and there's North Little Rock. Different cities altogether. Cabot is outside of NLR, and from what I hear it is growing like crazy! I think there are a couple of ladies here that are from that area, so you'll get some answers, I'm sure. My husband, grown son and I moved here almost two years ago from San Diego. So, from one newbie to another, welcome. It's a nice area here, you'll certainly have a whole lot less snow that what you're used to. Let us know when you get to town, we'll all get together for a cup of coffee or something! Take care, Susan

Becky, I live close to Cabot and have friends that live there. It is probably 15 - 20 min. from Little Rock, just past Jacksonville (where the air base is). It is a great place to live. The schools are good and they have lots of community activities. There are lots of churches there so you should not have a hard time finding a new church home. It is a surburb of Little Rock. It has everything you will need without going into North Little Rock. I would suggest you go to the Chamber of Commerce web site and look there if you have not already. Hope this helps. Let us know when you expect to move. Rhonda T.

Thanks for the great tips Rhonda! I have been an internet HOUND, so the Chamber and I are on a first name basis ~ Kidding! But, just about I have received wonderful maps and such. We are looking into the Magness Creek/Stonehenge areas. That is without MY seeing them, just dh! But, he really likes the area. I have been there, but haven't checked out any real estate. Thanks for the news on the churches too. That's important to our family. I will keep you posted as things progress. Right now we are just praying our home sells SOON so we can be with DADDY!! It's only been a month, but we miss him like crazy. Thanks again for your response, I hope you have a wonderful day! Becky

Becky, I would not call Cabot a suburb of LIttle Rock. It's approx 25 miles from LR and more out in the country. You have to go through Jacksonville, Sherwood and North Little Rock to get to LR. But it can take 30mins+ to get there. There is alot of people who come from Cabot to work either at the Air Base, Camp Robinson or in the City. Cabot is a growing little town, I think you'll enjoy it. Cathi

Becky, I live in Cabot and have for 4 1/2 years. We moved here from Nebraska. We have two boys that were 8 and 10 when we arrived here. We really do like it here. The schools are great and any activity you could want is here. A lot of people from the north are Catholic. The closest catholic church is in Jacksonville. They do not have one here in Cabot. Anything you would like to know about just ask. Look forward to meeting you. Terri

Hi and welcome, I live in Beebe, which is a small town N of Cabot about 12 miles. We go to Cabot to go to Wal Mart...There isnt a whole lot there. A movie, wal mart, k mart, home depot. And a few good resturants..But to go to a mall you have to drive about 30 mins or to little rock which is 40-45 mins.. I just moved back here from Oregon. We lived here after moving from Washington is 1994, and moved back out west in 2000. We had a pretty bad tornado in 98. Cabot to me is too big, lol. My town is around 5000 and is getting too big. There is ASU Beebe which offers some good classes for us adults to take, and grads too. The Beebe kids arent too fond of Cabot kids since they can be more hip hop looking. There are a lot of people from the Air Force there so the culture has lost some of the southern touch. Beebe is still hicksville. Although some would say Cabot is too..lol..Are you banded? Or are you going to be when you get here? When are you moving..?? Would be nice for us White county people to get together and meet..oh there is no snow here...and it is very HOT in the summer..get ready for the humidity..geri

Hi Becky, I too am from Beebe/Cabot area....we moved here from Idaho in 2004 due to the military. I agree with some of the posts... However, Cabot will be what YOU make of it...If you have children, there are always some sort of sport that is readily available to them throughout the year. I've always heard that the school system is "better than most" in this area (although I believe that Beebe is just as good). Yes, there is shopping around, like Walmart and such but the "big shopping" is in Little Rock which is a good 30-45 minute drive (depending on where you are going). Also, the price of buying a home is more expensive (less square footage than what you'd get in Jacksonville or Sherwood) due to the continued growth of Cabot. Cabot (and further south towards LR) has become a bit congested with traffic so if you're not use to that, get ready....lol.... the winters are not as bad as the NW but the summers are aweful! I've never walked outside in 80* weather and felt that I had just stepped out of a sauna...(shoot, I'm use to the 110* Idaho weather and NOT breaking a sweat! LOL) You can also travel to Conway (which is about 30 miles from beebe). it has some of the shopping luxuries that LR has....Kohls, Belks, JCPenney, Target, Walmart, and Old Navy...and as usual, the same food chains like Cracker Barrel and Outback. hope this helps....
