Bariatric surgeons in LR

I am attending Dr. Wellborn's seminar tomorrow to find out more about the lap band procedure. I initially started out seeking Dr. Gibbs until I found out that he has not done a lap band procedure on a human as of yet. (I was told that he has done the procedure on a pig, however.) Dr. Gibbs is certified to do the lap band, he just has not had a patient to try it on. I do know that Dr. Gibbs specializes in RNY, but Dr. Wellborn's specialty is the lap band. I saw a prior post from someone stating that they could not get a definitive answer from Dr. Gibbs regarding the lap band, so I thought I would share this information.

I really enjoyed the seminar. I found out a lot of things that made me a lot more comfortable with my decision to move forward. I have a surgery date of March 22, confirmed yesterday. I don't feel as frightened as I did before the seminar. I had a chance to speak with Dr. Wellborn for a bit and he really helped with a lot of extra questions I had that were specific to my situation. All in all, I am really pleased.

congratulations. i think you'll be happy with your choice. they are waiting to see what my insurance company does before they will except it. so i'm not doing anything right now. but i feel confident in dr. wellborn also. he is very knowledgeable. i appreciated the reasons why this surgery would work. i'm really really glad i went to his seminar. good luck to you on your journey. i think you'll do very well. trish
