On my way....

I'm just checking in with everyone to say that even though I don't have a surgery date yet, most of my paper work and medical tests are done. I'm in college so my husband and I went and took out a loan during Christmas Break and the full amount is sitting in the bank as I type this.....believe ME, it's burning a hole in his pocket!! Don't let the student designation fool you, I'm an ole gal of 51 and I've been on a diet for over 40 years but I haven't lost any weight to speak of in about the last 4 years. At present I weight about 290 - 300. However, I have been 360+ in the past. Up until the last few years I've been able to do my job easily but now I have a more physically demanding job that I absolutely LOVE and my size is definitely causing some problems. I want to stay with this type of wor****il retirement but I will be cheating myself, my employer, and my audience if I can't do my job. Additionally, obesity robbed me of one of my best friends in the past year and I won't allow that to happen to me. It's just not gonna happen. OK, that's all I have to say other than.... I'm so GLAD to be here amongst you and I'm looking forward to our mutual journey!

Good Morning Vicky, Glad to have you here! This whole thing has been a wonderful experience for me. I'm also 51 and have no problems whatsoever since my surgery. I feel great, have been able to go off all medications, and hope to be off my CPAP soon. You might want to check out the Over 50 Forum here at OH as well. They're a great bunch of gals there too. Good luck in your journey, let us know if there's any way we can help. Susan

First of all, let me say congrats on going back to school. I had some of the best years of my life in college and I think that is true no matter what age. What type of surgery are you hoping for? I had Lap RNY just 8 days ago and I'm feeling fine. Good luck on your journey and stick to these boards, you'll get a ton of good advice and support. Take care, Denise
