newbie

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum. I've been considering lapband surgery for a while now and am finally putting actions behind my thoughts. I'm going to Dr. Wellborn's seminar next week. My primary doctor has already said she will write a letter for me so I've got to get the insurance thing moving. I sitll have mixed emotions but the past 16 years of diet successes and failures and only continuing to get bigger is proof that what I've been doing isn't going to work long term. I can see how my weight is affecting my health and my quality of life and am ready to make a change for good. It's so encouraging to see how supportive you are to each other. I'm looking forward to making some new friends and getting to know you. Thanks for the support. Any info would be appreciated. :) Have a happy day! Kelly

hello kelly, welcome to our group. i am tammy and had RNY in 2001. i am kind of new here too, actually not even from arkansas, but have lived here since 2002. you will get to know everyone real quick and we are all here to support each other. i dont know anything about the lap band procedure but some of the ladies in the group do. i myself have went from 233 to my current weight of 146. every story in here is amazing and something to be proud of. dont be shy, i dont think anyone of us are shy we have all gone through too much to be shy....we do enjoy our new bodies. and like to see the changes daily. good luck with getting yours approved. feel free to ask questions..... have a good day, WELCOME Tammy

Hi Kelly, Glad to see you here! Where do you live? We have members on this forum from all over the state. One of them, Cathi (mom of many on the main board) had Dr Welborn for her RNY almost two years ago. Most of us have had rny, but we have lots in common as far as the whole "journey" is concerned. You might find better lap band info on that forum. Just go to "forums", drop down the menu to " see all forums" and then go to type of surgery. There are many, many people there that can help you with that aspect of your process. Again, welcome! We'll be here for you. Susan

Hi Kelly! WELCOME. My name is Margie and I live in Springdale, AR. I had RNY (Dr. Baker in LR) on February 20, 2006. It's been an amazing 11 months! I started out at 328 and I'm down to 195. I've been here for about weeks, but I'm losing inches. I know the scale will move, but it's very frustrating! This is just part of the journey! You'll learn this too. Welcome Kelly. My son is using Dr. Wellborn. He is just waiting to schedule the surgery. I had gastric bypass on the 25th of October and have not regretted one minute of it. Keep us posted and good luck on getting all your eggs in a row.
