I am 7 days post op RNY and have begun full liquids. I have been eating about 4 oz. Of oatmeal, cream of wheat, protein shakes etc. But do not feel completely full afterwards. Does anyone know if this is normal? Shouldn't I be feeling completely stuffed??!!!

You are still numb inside and it will be a few months until you start feeling the fullness. Some people can feel it at about 4 months. For me it was about 6 months. That's why you should follow your dr/nutritionist guidelines about what and how much to eat. If you're feeling "hunger", it's basically head hunger. Just make sure to drink as much as you can and get in as much protein as you can. It all gets easier with time. Good luck on your journey!! Margie

Measure your foods and go by what the surgeon and nutritionists have set for your guidelines. Margie is right, it takes a while before you begin to feel full. I am three months postop and am now beginning to feel heaviness when I eat my four ounces.

Measure, measure and measure some more. Do your guidelines say to have 4 oz? I could only have 2TBS for the first 2 weeks after surgery, but if your info says 4 oz, measure and eat only that. I'm four months out and didn't really start to have a "full' feeling until about a month ago, and it's not like before surgery, more pressure high in my abdomen. If you have questions, give your doctor's office a call to be sure. Susan
