So, has anyone got an offer for an ark ride yet? Hubby and I bought our books for this semester and spent almost a thousand bucks. Man oh man, that put a damper on my day and certainly made hubby mad. He had planned on getting one of those huge TVs. But, last night, after we got home, we were both so excited looking through out books. To me, books and rocks are so much fun to get new and look at over and over again. Well, I suppose everyone survived the almost ice storm. I am not sure what bothered me the most, anticipating an ice storm or not getting much ice at all. I love the cold, the snow, and the ice. If I could get all my friends and family to move to Alaska, I would be there tomorrow. Perhaps, what my ex says about me is true. I'm just a cold hearted ***** So, Geri you are progressing well. Twenty pounds in two weeks, that is great news. It just seems to melt away, doesn't it. Cathi, I sure do like the idea of bringing small gifts for our next get together. Wouldn't that be a blast? Tammy, that is great news about the twins new location. Let us know how all that works out. I can't wait to get my girls lifted and perked up. Although, if I am not careful, I will not have much to work with either. Margie, when we get together again, do you wanna ride together? Rhonda, I hope you can make it. We have such a great time. I can't wait for the next one and I'm hoping more folks show up. There is nothing as great as meeting fellow wls folks. Well, you guys all stay warm and have a great day. As for me, I am getting my lecture notes ready for my new students. Blah, blah, blah.

I'm hoping to be able to go on the 28th but I don't know right now. I'll have to let you know. It sure was fun to get together and I hope more people will join us next time. I didn't go to the WLS support group meeting yesterday because we were having an open house (trying to sale our home). I'm not sure if anyone got there or not since Rogers was colder and supposedly had more ice. ???? Anyway, I'll let the group know about this get together and maybe some more of them will go too. You guys have a great week!! Stay warm! Margie

OMGosh, you really NEED to start buying your books on ebay or half.com or alibris!! I'm taking 19 hours of classes this semester and I've managed to spend only about $125. so far......there are three more books I need which should set me back no more than $75 more....so PLEASE consider shopping around for your books. Vicky, I get my books whole sale, because I am a teacher and the university gives us a big break. It's just that I am also in graduate school, finishing my phd and have about 200 books that are required for my three, yep, three classes. My husband is a senior and is taking four classes, three of which are literature classes and in each of those three classes, he has a minimum of 25 books. I did order three of my books through an online book company because they were out of print and required. While I don't pay for my tuition or any fees and my books are wholesale, we still spend a fortune on our books. 1000 bucks isn't bad considerering that my tuition is paid by the university and I get paid for teaching two classes, which equals about a grand a month. But, I still gripe about the cost of books, even wholesale. The good thing is that I love books and never resale them, so I consider them parts of our family.
