Medicare and Surgery (the wait is over)

Hello, I checked the surgicalreview.org site and see now that Arkansas finally has a hospital listed for doing surgery. Baptist Medical Center, and 2 surgeons are now listed, Dr Baker & Dr Gibbs. I have been waiting since the day Medicare made all those changes. Now I am only waiting on the surgical review board to come out to Dr Wellborn's office do their inspection and then I can have surgery. Thought I would post in case we have any others who are waiting for surgery too.

seeing your posting made my day. Infact I sent Dr. Baker an E-Mail at the beginning of the week so I am going to call the office today. I have medicare and tricare and if I don't loose the weight , and surgery is the only ans I'm just going to get worse-my health All I can do now is stay in a hospital bed with my feet up to keep swelling down so I can get up and do a few things while they start getting big again I meet all the guidelines having had 42 operations since I was 15, 5 on my back and 3 on my right knee which has a replacement and I'm just hoping they will consider me cause I read someplace 61 years old is the cut off and I will be that this month How long have you been waiting? I was going to have the gastric done back in 2001 and was afraid. My 1 sister had the gastric done and another one had the lap band and the lap band one is much happier but you know what I don't care which one just to get one done Again thankyou for your information and good luck I'll try and make it point to c heck here every few days at least
