Bariatric Surgery Support Groups

Hi, I'm new to the board and all this stuff. If I can get it approved, I hope to have some sort of surgery by the end of the year since I have met my deductable. The surgeon I would like to use requires potential patients to attend a support group meeting prior to scheduling surgery. Unfortunately, the group he recommends in Little Rock only has 1 more meeting between now and the end of the year, and I am out of town on business the week of that meeting. I need to find a support group in the western half of Arkansas or even eastern Oklahoma that I can attend prior to surgery and hopefully afterward as well. I live in Van Buren, but work in Fayetteville so anywhere in one of those locations would be good. I'm also taking a class at UAMS, so something between here and Little Rock would also work. My schedule is fairly flexible with the exceptions of 2 out of town meetings I have to attend in the next couple of months. I really appreciate your help on this one & looking forward to hearing from ya'll. I have been lurking on an off for a while but finally decided to join the group! Thanks, Gina

Not sure if there is one near you, but you might click the link up top for support groups and see if there are any listed in your area. Good luck!

There is one at Fort Smith ran by the Cooper Clinic and there is one in Fayetteville ran by the bariatric clinic at Washington regional. Hope this helps.

I think Christopher Coleman at Cooper Clinic has support groups but I am not sure. You could call his office and ask. Another place to look might be a newspaper. Hope that helps. Carla
