I am an RN who can not get any insurance company where I have worked (St Vincent, Baptist, ect...) that pays for surgery. Does anyone know if there are any nurses have had WLS that their job has paid for?

I am an RN and lived and worked in Little Rock for awhile when I was just toying with the idea of WLS. I have since moved to Oklahoma and work for a tribal hospital that is self insured (this was a major influence in the job change) to get the coverage. Sorry, I am not suggesting you move, but I looked around in Arkansas and couldn't find any bariatric coverage.

When I was in the hosptial having my surgery, all the nurses told me that Baptist was going to start picking up 50% of the costs for their employees on their healthcare plan. My husband's cousin who works there confirmed this....

Washington Regional in Fayetteville has the same "50%" coverage, but... It is 50% up to a max of $4000. Not really much coverage on any surgery but at least it is some... Dawna

I work at Baptist and had surgery in January, which I paid for out of my own pocket. Health Addvantage started in September paying 50% of the surgery. Too late for me but good for others. I think you have to be enrolled in a weight loss program for 6 months before they will approve it. Google and get a 0% interest credit card. I may be paing for this the rest of my life but going from a size 24 in Jan to a 12 now, (270lbs-174lbs) makes that monthly payment all worth it....and I am only 10 months out!!!!!!!!!!!
