Sorry if this shows up twice, the first time I posted it, it didn't make it. Anyway, I'm having my surgey on Sept 14, at St Vincent's by Dr Gibbs. Anyone out there who had the same Doc or hospital? Would love some info. Thanks, \ Susan

Susan: I had my surgery 26 months ago and Dr. Gibbs did it. My only regret is that I did not have it sooner. He is a GREAT Doctor - be sure and do exactly what he says and you will get along fine. Good luck. Air Force Mom

I had my surgery 10 months ago with Dr. Gibbs but had it done at Baptist. He is a great Dr. I even used him 2 weeks ago for my hernia repair ( pre existing) Follow the rules and get all the good advice you can on this web sight and you will do great. Good luck, jennifer 361 / 211 / 175ish

Hi Jennifer Congrats on a job well done, so far!! My husband is working on his approval with Dr Gibbs, but he's going to have it at Baptist. How was your experience there? It will be interesting to compare St Vincent's to Baptist. Looking forward to meeting Dr Gibbs, glad you have had such positive results. Thanks for your input Susan

Susan, I had my WLS at St. Vincents. I love that hospital. It's an older hospital, but the staff has ALWAYS been good to me. You really want a good experience tell them you want Dr. Frost for your anasthesiaologist . Then when they give you him tell him Cathi Murphy sent you and give him a BIG hug for me! I just love that man, he is so compassionate and caring. And if you are scared or apprehensive, don't worry, Dr. Frost will make it all better. I had him for my WLS, and requested him when I had my TT. Good Luck MOM

Hi MOM, Thanks for the info, always helps to know a good anesthesiaologist! If I can remember through my drug induced haze, I'll tell him you said hi. I'll let you know how things go....7 days and counting Susan

Baptist is a nice hospital. I had my husband with me the whole time I was in there so I don't know if they are good about helping you with the bathroom and wlaking thing as he helped me but they were always there with answers and pain meds. the only complaint I had is that on the last day my Dr ordered somthing for gas pain as i was driving 3 hours home and in lots of pain. the hospital never gave it to me and I went home in lots of pain. They also forgot about me and finally realized I was still in my room waiting to be discharged 4 hours after they thought I was gone. This was not drs fault they had put orders in that morning but it was the floor staff just flaking. So stay on top of them and make them do their job. good luck, Jennifer

I had my surgery at St Vincent. The care was satisfactory, but certainly not impressive. The were not free with information, even with a simple thing like an estimate of my surgery start time (it was at least three hours late). I felt talked down to as well, and they did it to my husband and mom. Last year, I had carpal tunnel surgeries at Rebsamen in Jacksonville, and found the staff more helpful and personable. Even so, I got the meds I needed and was assisted out of bed as needed. For me (and others) the attitude makes a difference in my level of anxiety.
