Great News ... I'm so excited... I have to share my miracle!
I haven't been able to sleep all night. Last November, I was diagnosed with primary kidney disease and nephrotic syndrome. My condition is so severe that I've been unable to work full time since November. A real career stopper!
HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS: Yesterday, I went to see my nephrologist (kidney doctor) to set a schedule to begin my steroid and chemo treatments following my lapband surgery (next Monday). It's a scary prospect considering that I'll be losing weight and trying to deal with chemo at the same time.
So... my husband and I are sitting in the exam room... anxious... when my doctor walks in... smiles ... and says ... I want to wait ... it appears that your kidney disease is going into a spontaneous remission. A few weeks should tell for certain ... however, it's looking great... We'll check you again following your weight loss surgery.
At first I smiled... then I just tried to choke back the tears. Nine months ago we were working with the doctors trying to figure out how long before it progresses or I develop heart disease (Number 1 killer of kidney patients). Of course, little is known about kidney disease and it's a guessing game especially when it's idiopathic (no known cause).
My doctor told me today that I have many years left.
So, God gave us our miracle. I get a second chance to do things right ... work a little less ... spend more time with my family... see my daughters graduate from high school, college, get married, and have their own children.
I guess I should start by getting a good nights sleep.
I just needed to share with those of you who understand!
Thanks for listening! Wish me luck next Monday!
