Good Morning Arkansassssssss!!!!!!!!!
Hey Janine and Jan and now Jeannie. OH my gosh. The three J's, like the three amigos. How cool. Anyway, just dropping in saying good morning and have a good day. The rest of you lurkers, feel free at any time to join right on in and post a bit here and there. I see great plans brewing for the very near future for all of us losers here in Arkansas.
Hey Sharon. Where is El Dorado? Welcome or actually I'm new but welcome to my post. I am so wanting to get this place active. It's good to have someone else eager to post and plan so be warned that I am a social animal and like meeting and greeting those folks that I meet on line. So, I see a potluck in our very near future, or at least a protien drink tea.
Thanks for the welcome! I am from El Dorado...just 13 miles from the Louisiana border. I am having my surgery (RNY proximal) in Shreveport which is about 90 miles from me. I have everything but my EGD and preop appt done. That will probably be in the next couple weeks....I may have surgery by the end of June! I am nervous but excited. If everyone else can handle it.....then so can I! A get together would be great.
Tell me about your doctor and if you can, let me have his number. I have thought about going there myself. They take medicare. I had my EGD done a couple of months back. If I go there for surgery, I'll stop by on my way and say hello. Otherwise. we can meet somewhere. I grab a bunch of the guys from here and we'll meet you. I think around LR or conway is the middle, I'll have to look.
I am the one *****sponded to your other post about losing your insurance. My doctor is George Merriman in Shreveport. I talked to Kim, his coordinator this morning and told her about the receptionist telling you no hospital in Shreveport accepts Medicare. She said that is wrong...they don't accept MEDICAID but both Christus Schumpert and Doctors Hospitals accept Medicare. Call down there at 1-318-222-3132 and ask to speak to Kim, the coordinator. I have met Dr. Merriman twice...at his seminar (mandatory that you attend his) and then at my consult appointment. He is cute...looks just a little like a younger Richard Gere and has a nice personality...really friendly. He asked me why I wanted the RNY and not the lapband...I told him that I was afraid I would find a way to eat around it and since I am 61 years old and a Medicare patient I figure this is my last shot and I wanted something that I would have a better chance at losing all the weight I wanted to lose and that the more I thought about it....I didn't know if I could handle the idea of something foreign implanted in me. LOL. Then, he took me to Kim's office and she gave me a list of all the stuff I needed to get done ...I probably wasn't there an hour. They did weigh me. Re: getting together...would love it.
