Welcome to the AL board!  I moved to AL almost 2 yrs ago and love it.  I am close to Montgomery and am not familiar with the surgeons.

Topic: Hello All!
It looks like I will be joining this board soon as I m going to be moving to AL. next month. I was just wondering if anyone has a bariatric surgeon that they see in the Birmingham area that they would recommend for followup care. I called my surgeons office and they did not know of anyone to refer me to. thanks in advance

Our satelite office next door to Dr. Dewitt's at Princeton. Excellent surgeon with a lot of sleeve gastrectomy experience.

My husband and I both had VSG done by Dr Andrew Dewitt at Princeton on 1/30/2012.  He has been wonderful, his nurses are so sweet too.  He has wonderful bed side manner.  I know Dr. Les Miles performs it as well but I personally would not use him.  There is also a doctor Matthews at Princeton.  I also know Rex Sherer at Shelby performs WLS, but I don't know if he performs VSG.  He was my first choice since he performed my appendectomy and surgery on other family members and he is such a nice guy, but he didn't take my insurance.

Another plus to one of the Princeton docs is that they're currently working on a bariatric facility that will specialize in all things plus size patients could need.  They really were the first hosptial I have been to where the entire staff did not seem to shy away from someone of my weight (Over 500lbs at time of surgery) .

Good luck to her!

My sister lives in between Montgomery and Birmingham. She is considering VSG and is looking for an experianced surgeon in that area. Preferrably in the Montgomery area but is also considering Birmingham as well.

She was referred to Parham Mora but looking at his profile here it appears he does lap-band and by pass. Any suggestions???

Happy International Women's Day! http://www.internationalwomensday.com/

I had an amazing run yesterday!  The weather was perfect, 74 degrees and breezy.  Left the house at 5:00 p.m.  I'm so glad time is changing this weekend!  More daylight to get outside after work.   Today I'll do yoga.

Eats today:
B1-1/2 c cottage chs with NSA peaches and 1 slice ww toast
B2-grilled chicken breast
Snack-a few bites of Indian chicken/egg/rice casserole, fruit salad (we had an International Women's Day celebration)
L-want sushi, will probably eat a Lean Cuisine
S-Chobani blood orange
D-beans and greens

B:  1 boiled egg, 1 slice sausage, fresh fruit, and toast
S:  Coffee
L:  Garlic Shrimp with onions and brown rice....prob 1 cup
D1:  Cheeseburger, unsweet tea
D2:  turkey and cheese sandwich, fresh fruit, few carrot and celery sticks

Exercise:  2 mile walk before work this morning :)  It felt wonderful to be outside on such a lovely day.

I feel like I am a bottomless pit most days........

Jello mix sounds wonderful.  I also like to mix a box of dry jello mix with SF cool whip and COttage cheese and add bananas and strawberries to it.  It tastes delicious and adds a little protein in for dessert!
