Topic: I lived Through the Hike!
Yesterday we did an off trail hike through the Sipsey Wilderness--6.5 miles to some amazing waterfalls.  There were 23 people on this hike.  I had no idea how extreme "off trail" hiking is.  There were times we had to slide down fallen trees to cross rivers, and sometimes we had to go thru streams.  There were large areas of tree log jams we had to crawl over, and some major boulders we had to climb.  We were often walking on steep hillsides, clinging for life...one wrong step, you fall, and you die.

I was very scared some of the times.  I can't believe I was able to do it--and I held my own!  However, I don't know that I'd do it again...well, yeah, I probably would!  Here are a few pics.

Come visit our "Whatcha Eatin R U Exercising" post each day and be accountable for what you eat and how much you move.  It helps me greatly to know I have to report in.

I am confused.  Why are we doing the AA 12 steps?  I am discovering that you cannot just drop in and out of here and know what is going on.

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand him.

I love this step.  Everbodys will and care of their lives may not be same as some one else.  It sure as heck helps me with my food addiction.   It is an ever day struggle and we just have to keep plugging along with each step.

I have many friends that are not "christian" but are of another faith.  They serve a different higher power that I do.

What I read into this step is everyone has to turn it over to their own higher power whether it be Jesus Christ or a rock. They must BELIEVE in their higher power.

I personally serve Jesus but if the person next to me believes that Buddah or a rock is their higher power then that's their right.  As long as they BELIEVE

Good luck with your goal.  I need to lose about 25 lbs myself so I am right there with you.  I have cut my portions in half and am going to the YMCA at least three times per week (mostly to swim, but also doing Zumba class as well).  I had hoped to lose more before the cruise in February, but it doesn't look like I am gonna make my goal.

I was doing really well until my Gastro dr put me on steroids for Crohn's and I gained 30 lbs in 2 months.  I have only managed to lose 5 lbs since I quit taking it.  I still have 4 weeks so hopefully I can lose at least another 5 lbs by Feb 7th.  I am up to a size 12, from a loose size 10 last year.  Most of cruise clothes are size 10, so I had to some shopping today (got some great deals at thrift shops on some nice clothes)

I am not worried about gaining weight on a cruise because  I am accustomed to eating smaller portions, I just have to make better decisions about what I eat.

Going for the goal....let's commit and make it happen.

Yay Gwen.  You hit the nail on the head.  Without Jesus Christ we would be nothing.  I think some people see Jesus Christ in a whole different light.  Strange as it may seem, some people try to change or misinterpret what the HOLY BIBLE says to benefit themselves. It's so sad too.  I just don't understand.  Some people even think their religion is the only way to heaven.  Uhhh, NO, I don't think so.  Just cause we don't see eye to eye on every single thing, doesn't mean we're not going to heaven.  The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  We must ask him to forgive us of ALL our sins, not just part of them  and we must ask him to live in our hearts and our lives and live our lives in a Christ like manner.  No one is perfect and we all make mistakes.  But when they are repeated over and over and over again, then....there's a big problem.

I am thankful for MY HIGHER POWER, Jesus Christ.  God bless you all and have a very blessed rest of this weekend.

Love to all,

Elle
