Debbie if you have a plastic surgeon in mind that you would like to use call them and make an appt for a consultation.  You do not need your PC to make a referral.  If your stomach hangs far enough down to cover the pubic area then your insurance should cover.   The plastic surgeons office will know what to do.

Have you already had WLS?  I started working out regularly 6 months before my surgery and I was 324 lbs....so I know how it is.  I will tell you though that I believe the fact that I did it made my recovery so much better.  I was back on my treadmill (very slowly) the day after I got home from the hospital.

When I worked out, I wore compression garments.  It holds everything in place.  I wore 2 sports bras (one over the other) and compression pants that came up a bit higher than my waist.

I remember having some pain when working out then too--but the compression items did help.  Work your core as much as you can as core strength helps everything.

I am so proud of you for making this an important part of your journey!  You WILL BE successful long term.

I highly recomend Dr. Yates with this group. He has done two separate procedures on me and I am competley satisfied with both of them. Friends have used the others (Dunagan or Allison) and have been happy with their work as well--but my personal choice is Dr. Yates.

Oh--they are in Huntsville.

Good Luck with your search for the perfect surgeon for you.

Carolyn~
