It can take 72 hours up to 3 weeks. Depends on whether you are a heavy smoker or not. Also--just being around a heavy smoker can cause YOU to test positive for nicotine. I learned that the hard way when I was rated as a smoker on insurance. I have NEVER smoked but live with a heavy smoker.

Okay, so I quit smoking On September the 13th,,, was doing fine,, then had a bad pediatric call with a fatality about two weeks ago and decided i needed a cigarette... and have since smoked a couple here and there, I am suppose to have my surgery 4 weeks from Monday,. If I dont smoke anymore from this point on will nicotine still show in my bloodwork, Im not even sure that they test for it in the pre-op testing, I had to tell the nurse that I had been quit for 6 weeks before she would file it on insurance,,,, I know I screwed up, but what am I suppose to do now?? Any advise...

I am enjoying the questions and answers because I am sooo looking forward to this surgery and I do not want to over-think things and constantly run to the hospital that is a hour and a half away.

Hi! I'm in Millbrook, next door to Prattville and just North of Montgomery. Our schools and pretty terrific too :>) I'm 4 months out from my surgery so relatively new to the boards. We've lived here for 11 years and love this area so if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer as I'm sure the others will too. Welcome to the Alabama board!!

Im fairly new here, but have to admit been lurking for quite a while now, I was just informed this AM that BCBS approved for me to have my bypass surgery, Im exstatic and nervous at the same time. They told me to be thinking about a date after Feb the 10th so Im gonna shoot for the 28th of Feb. If anyone has used Dr. Bradley Bilton at DCH Regional Tuscaloosa Alabama, I'd love to talk to you,.
Thanks
Topic: RE: Friday! Whatcha Eatin? R U Exercising??
Tried my first scrambled eggs today! : ) I know I said I was gonna have some for supper the other night, but that never happened, lol! Handling them pretty good right now! So, YAY! New food I can eat! Can't quite eat one egg, which is so odd! I'm still dealing with not being able to eat quantity. I ate a half of a banana last night for the first time also. I feel like a baby trying new foods.
My husband comes home tonight and all my kids too, so I am not sure what I will be eating tonight! I was hoping to stay on the breakfast foods, like maybe some grits. I definately need to invest in some unflavored protien powder to sprinkle on all my foods to up the protien content. My doctor wants me to try to eat protien as much as possible but of course that is imposible.
I am a little behind on my liquid intake for today because I took Loratab this morning and slept most of the day. But, I'm working on it! : ) Yall have a great rest of Friday and weekend!
