Good to hear you are getting out.  Every day gets better =)  You will be shocked at how fast you will make progress....even when it seems slow, it is still fast.

Topic: Hola Alabama...
Hi, new here on this site and to Alabama as well.  Recently relocated from Texas... Aside from my twin 17 yr old boys and my fiance, all my family is still in Texas.  So its odd that I finally decided to go through with this surgery...now that I don't have my daughters around to help with the post op stuff.

I have been researching for the last 10 years at least.  I was afraid of surgery mostly, but also didn't have the money for it.  Then I found out that my insurance covers it, so here I am.  I've been to a seminar at Crestwood in Huntsville and am scheduled for another seminar at Huntsville Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.  I just want to make sure I get a good feel of the surgeons.

So I'll be seeing you guys around...

Hi everybody!

I had RNY on 1/11/11, and yesterday was my first time out of the house.  I went to a family birthday party and then later a family get-together.  Several people noticed I had lost weight and told me I looked good.  One lady overhead us talking about my surgery and told me I was "not big enough to have had the surgery".  I told her she did not see me before, LOL.  I can tell in my clothes I have lost weight, and I will find out the amount on February 3 when I go back for my first postop visit.

I am surprised at how my tastes have changed since surgery.  Several of you had told me that might happen, and it did.

I want to thank all of you for your support in this journey.  You have been wonderful!

You should be fine---if you stay away for the cigs and the smokers.  Don't beat yourself up--learning positive things to do is part of going thru this process--when you are stressed, you can't turn to food anymore so you need to find positive changes to rely on for the rest of your life.  Quitting smoking is the same way--you have to find your new outlet for when you'd normally go smoke.

You can do this!  Make yourself enough of a priority that you WILL NOT allow a bad habit to derail your success!  We are here if you need us.
