Today's Intake:
B: 1 serving Farina
S: Coffee and a mozzarella cheese stick
L: 3 oz. chicken, 3/4 c. salad, 1/2 c. beef pasta bake
S: Protein Bar
D: Ham and Cheese on whole grain toast, 2 baby carrots, 1 pickle
S: Not sure yet........
Exercise: 20 min. yoga, 20 min. arm and shoulder work-out, 3 miles of walking.
I feel so much better now that I have gotten back into the exercise habit. I had fallen off that wagon for a few months. I have the summer sunshine and some cool trips coming up so I am motivated to get that beach body. Plan to start tanning near the end of the month =)

Glad you are doing well. I am not as familiar with the VSG procedure. I had RNY and was on a liquid/pureed diet for 3 weeks afterwards and couldn't hold much at all.

Topic: So...Now I need to find a dietitian!!!!
Actually I was kinda expecting it after reading through comments on this site! I have UHC choice plus! *sigh* On the plus side of this...this makes my hubby and daughter feel better about me going through with this. Since I'm new to Huntsville, I don't even have a doctor. I've been using American Family Care. I think I will stop by there on the way home tomorrow and see if they can refer me to a dietitian.
PLUS... I have to go to either a doctor in Chattanooga or Birmingham. Again, my hubby was all for it...since he loves Chattanooga and my insurance told me that they would reimburse me for travel and lodging since I will be driving over 50 miles.
Damn...I used the word "plus" 3 times in this post...wonder what that means...

First, welcome to the Alabama board. This is the best board on OH! I had my surgery at Shelby and had an awesome experience. My surgeon is Rex Sherer and I adore him and highly recommend him.
I had BCBS of AL and had to provide the 3 years of weight history showing continued obesity. For me, that wasn't a problem--I got my records from my OBGYN for the previous 3 years. I did not have any co-morbidities but I had a BMI over 50. I also had to do the 6 month supervised diet....and there are some pretty strict rules you have to follow on this. You must go to a total of 7 appointments: The day of the month of the last appt must be AFTER the day of the month of the 1st one....some people try to "speed up" the process by making their appts closer together each time.....also, BCBS has a form that will detail exactly what your doctor must record and how they must submit it. Katie at my surgeon's office was most helpful through the insurance process.
Best wishes to you on your journey and again, welcome. We are here to help if you need us! If you send me a friend request you'll be able to see my profile.

today was a better day so far! not the greatest day but i'll live with it. it definitely was much better than yesterday. I dumped hard core on dinner. my aunt is a carb lover and its comfort food to me but i try to avoid it. last night was red beans and rice, fried potatoes, mac and cheese, corn, english peas, and a cresent. no meat. i paid dearly. i was completely miserable.
B-1/2c cottage cheese w/ NSA peaches
L-smoked chicken breast w/ baked beans and potato salad (mostly the chicken)
D-i had planned to make chicken enchiladas but im not sure. its cold and rainy and i really want soup.

Topic: Made appt. with General Practitioner-Newbie
I am have been lurking on this website for awhile and I have finally took the 1st step. I have an appointment with my general practitioner scheduled for next Tuesday. Anyone have any tips or questions that I need to be sure to ask? Also, has anyone had their surgery at Shelby Baptist or University of Alabama at Birmingham? If so, who was your surgeon and how was your experience? I have another question (actually I am full of them, LOL)! I have BCBS of AL PPO insurance policy. I have to provide a 3 year medical weight history showing a bmi of 35-39 with a co-morbidity or 40+ without. Do you just have to provide 1 recorded (by doctor or picture w/ date) per year? The reason I ask is because I have dieted in the past and my bmi might have fell below 35. This was short lived as I lose and then gain it back plus more. My current bmi is 40. I have high blood pressure. Also, did you all have to have a supervised diet plan? If so, for how long? Thanks for the help

Treated myself today for the first time since my surgery..........and not with food, lol! I went and changed my hair up a bit! Lot more blonde than I am used too but I'm changed on the inside...why not a little change for the outside too
So far today my fluids are behind. I forgot to take my water in while I was having my hair done and that was 2 whole hours with no fluids. But, I'll get it in!
B- 1/2 banana
L-1/4 c mashed potatoes
S-laughing cow wedge and cracker
D-scrambled egg with cheese
Question: Does it seem that I am eating too much this soon after sugery? I am following my doctor's guidelines. I just feel like I am able to eat SO MUCH! I haven't had any problems thankfully!
