Has anyone used a surgeon in a smaller town outside of Birmingham or Huntsville? I've heard good things about Dr. Groves in Marshall County. Also as I'm fairly young I don't really have credit and I will be self pay....I make a good income that I can easily cover payments with but curious if I should wait for a consultation until I have half of a down payment due no credit line.
Hello
The last time we checked this surgeon was taking Medicaid.
Give them a call and let me know if this works for you. If not, we will keep looking!

I found out he is in California and no longer does bariatric surgery, but does still
practice medicine. You can google his name and "California", and find him.
I live in Anniston Alabama. Just started the Insurance Diet plan.
My Dr. Is Andrew DeWitt from Princeton Hospital in Birmingham .

I'm having to loose as much as I can, because I'm having hip problems. Would like to loose another 40 pounds before my surgery approval.
To cover all the bases, you'd do well to get your doc to enlist the help of a dietician or nutritionist. Another option is something like a Medical supervised program such as Medifast. I wouldn't suggest Jenny or WW, unless they have an actual physician there.
You clearly meet the co-morbidities, so the 6 months and the psychiatric screening should be all you need. BCBSAL was my insurance also.
Not sure about their Medicaid rules, but I can't recommend Andy Dewitt at Princeton enough. Fantastic surgeon, and very good bedside manner. A pleasure to deal with.
