Hi FRIENDS!
So Here I am 8 years post op and overweight again. I woke up this morning with a renewed desire to take off the 35 pounds I had regained. This was before I weighed this morning, alas it is now 40 pounds of regain. My lowest weight was 143 and here I sit at 183! NOT Happy with myself at all. The surgery did not fail me...My mindset failed me. I allowed food to take center stage again. I got careless. I started stopping for fast foods, drinking with my meals, eating no value foods and ignoring the needs of this tool. The need is my cooperation! I stopped drinking water and added carbonated soda's and this is what I get for it. 40 pounds re-gained! I am done folks as of today I am back on the wagon and determined to lose these pounds. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I once again wage war with my will. I can't go back, I won't go back! I am determined to see 140 and a size 10 AGAIN!

Hey Lisa. I am right there with you. I had got in the habit of eating a lot of carbs and having a chocolate with almonds candy bar ever day. I have put on about 10 #. As of last weekend I have ditched all those carbs and have not had a candy bar. I drink 4 16oz bottles of water ever day. I will only have a sip of coke if I have something stuck and need it up or down. I do have the tiny little 7 oz cans but I keep them outside in my utility room. That way I am not tempted. We CAN do this. I am also 8 1/2 years post/op and it just seems that it gets easier to pack on the pounds. I am back on the wagon as of last Monday. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Louise for responding. I really need to know I'm not alone and I want to be supportive of the newbies and show them that a gain can be battled. It seemd like I just fell into a lull of some sort and somewhere along the way I quit trying, I did well yesterday. I managed to stay on track the whole day and did exactly what I was supposed to. My work week will be the challenge though. Let's DO THIS!

So as I round the corner to year 3, I see that it is now up to me. There is no "magic" left....the malabsorbtion of calories is gone....and I have to work to keep the pounds away.
The main saving grace I have is that I continue to exercise a lot. I have not been able to run as much over the winter, but the coldest days are gone and I'm already running much more. I got sloppy and was eating way too many cookies and junk, and had to cut back.....I'm excited about the good fruit that will hit the stores soon!
Lisa, you can do this. You are a strong woman! And you deserve the extra attention it takes to put you first. Please do it now.
We are here for you! Come by daily and be accountable for what you eat and your exercise...in my daily "whatcha eatin" post!

You can do it! We all have weaknesses and it is nice to know that we aren't alone.
Recognizing the problem is the hardest thing to do.....like I will "rationalize" that I can have such and such to eat, or I can drink a few sodas, or I am too tired to work out....etc. etc.
But I have found when I get back to the basics, the tool still works.
Thank you for posting!
