RNY
thanks Louise,
I am considering RNY. I would rather do the sleeve I think. He did my band and I have not been ssuccessfull with that at all- lots of problems. I go back Monday to discuss with him. Do you regret having the surgery? If you dont mind my asking have you had any complications? Thanks so much for responding.

Melissa I have no regrets what so ever. I had RNY the 22nd will be 8 years. I have no big problems just some of the things that they tell us about like the frothing, eating to fast and not chewing good. If I had it to do over Dr. Freeman and Tim would be the one that I choose. I will PM you my phone # if you want to call and talk. I will be than happy to answer any question that you might have if I can.
Dr. Freeman did my RNY a little over 3 1/2 years ago. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. I did not have any post-surgical problems. I had had many prior open abdominal surgeries, but was still able to have the laproscopic RNY. The only thing I did have was the usual from eating too quickly, trying to eat too much, or just eating the wrong things. I still occassionally have the foamies or frothing if I don't chew properly.
If I had it to do over, I would use Dr. Freeman again.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
Thank you for posting. When i first started thinking maybe i needed to consider bypass i thought that most people had problems but i am finding that most people do not- other than the foamies which i have had many, many times with my band. May i Say WOW you look incredible! And most importantly i bet you are so much healthier and that is my true goal! I go tomorrow to discuss this with him. Can you tell me how your recovery went? Were you in tons of pain?
Thank you so much..
Melissa
Thank you so much..

Melissa I have had worse pain than what I had with weight loss surgery. He will give you some of the good stuff but you will not need it. The most discomfort is from having the drains which comes out in 7 days. The drains do not hurt coming out but an uncomfotable feeling that is just really hard to explain and it last like a second. You are in good hands with Dr. Freeman and Tim.
Melissa,
I was in college full-time when I had my surgery. I had surgery on December 12 or 13 and was back at school on about January 6th. As far as pain goes, I had surgery on a Friday, I used the pain pump Friday night. I did not need it at all on Saturday. I went home from the hospital Sunday morning.
Dr. Freeman had given me a prescription for pain medicine before my surgery and advised me to have it filled and take one before surgery to see if it made my throw up. That was the only pain pill I had to take. If I had not had 2 drains, I would not have thought I had surgery at all, other than the fact that my appetite was literally gone.
I do feel so much better and am so much healthier. I was on 2 blood pressure medications before surgery. I quit taking them the day of surgery and have not had one since. I had my blood pressure taken this past Thursday. It was 100/59, which is my new normal.
Remember everyone's recovery and pain tolerance is different. I have also never had a problem getting in all my fluids. I tend to be a gulper. I can drink water really really quickly and have always done that since about the 2nd week post op.
Good luck and feel free to ask anything.,

Thank you so much for replying to my post. I too, am back in school so thats definately one of my concerns but I feel sure that I could miss a class if I needed to. I have a high threshold pain wise (usually lol). Have you had any road blocks along the way? You look great! I am so glad to hear you are healthy now- that is my main goal!
