4 Rules

I found these 4 rules for successfule weight loss when I looking up another topic which I will post later.  With some of our new patients asking some serious questions recently I have been researching and reading.
Here are the 4 rules:
1 Eat protein only at mealtime. 1 or 2 meals/day.  Veggies only after you get your protein in.  Need to get in 60 to 75 grams of protein ever day.
2 Never snack between meals.
3 Drink plenty of water.  At least 64 oz and up/day.
4 Exercise 20 to 30 minutes ever day.
Hope that these will help some of you.  I know that ever one is not going to agree with these rules but these are the ones that we hear from all the doctors when I have attended some conferences. .

I agree that for the early stages this true.  However, it isn't realistic for the long term.  In maintenance, we need much more nutritionally and even more if we develop a fair amount of muscle.

This is the basic info that I was given after my surgery and I followed it for the 1st year.

Kim I was posting those for the new patients not long term.  There was a post the other day that the poster sounded as if she had not gotten enough info in the beginning.   Sorry for the confusion.

Understand completely....I just didn't want a graduate to just come to this page and think you were posting that as "rules for the ages".....I knew what you meant

Thanks for clarifying, have a great day.

Stacy these are also the rules that I hear ever time I go to an OH conference and also my support group.  I am like you  I just can not eat that much, there is no way that at 7 1/2 years that I can get all my protein.  I am just now getting where I can do all the water.  I was going to start back walking today but it is just to dang cold for these bones.

These 4 rules is what Dr. Sherer told me to do.  Along with No Carbonated drinks, no sugar, and no caffeine.  Like everything else i break no rules.  When I lost to much weight he is like im going to tell you to do something i dont usually do.  EAT SNACKS. You have got to gain some weight.  If i didnt know better he did brain surgery too.  When i awakend from surgery its like i never wanted to eat.  I still dont want to eat. I only eat to  wake up and move around. Not because im hungry. The required Protein im not sure how to get all that in.  There is no room.

I'm so jealous!  I wish I had trouble getting all my food in!  I'm usually finishing what I'm allowed to have for the day before dark....then I just have to go to bed and pray for breakfast!  :)

I have no problem getting 110 grams of protein in everyday!  I do not feel gnawing hunger like I did pre-surgery, but I would not be able to live with only 3 meals a day anymore...especially since I now apparently have RH....which I will discuss with Dr. Sherer when I go in May.

Last time I saw him I explained that I still track all my food and eat 6 times a day and he was cool with it.  He is not a fan of snacking between meals....but I think that is more that he is "anti-grazing" which can be the death of us all!  I think a big part of this journey is figuring out what will help us individually live as a thin person long term....I'm still feeling my way through it.

I pray I can be as successful as the two of you!  You have much to be proud of.

Thank you for posting these.
It is so easy to get away from the basics, but they truly work.
