Hi evryone!

I am 6 1/2 years out from WLS and have just had my first complication. I spent the holidays in the hospital with a blockage in my bowels they said it was scare tissue from the surgery . Has anyone else had problem this far out.I lost a lot of weight  all of a suden and was wondering if this could have caused it to happen.

I haven't had that problem.  I am nearly 10 years out and have a hiatal hernia  and acid reflux disease that can not be repaired by surgery because of my VBG

I had a hital hernia before my WLS, when i had my WLS they repaired  it.My WLS surgon told me i could not get acid reflux after the Wls because tthe part of the stomach that makes the acid was separated from the poutch. But i started hurting in my chest and thought i was having heart problems my primary care DR. put on meds for acid reflux and it stoped.

Shirley they put a NG tub in my nose and i couldn't have anything by mouth for 3 days. At first they were going to do sugery that night and then changed their mind and waited to see if  it would resolve on its own and it did.

I had something very similar early last year. Woke up one day hurting in my lower stomach. As the day went on, the pain got unbearable and wound up going to the emergency room. Come to find out, it was scar tissue from a surgery I had in 1985, appendectomy, had constricted around my intestine and nothing could pass.  I personally couldnt believe it took all those years for a problem like that to arise.  So I guess it could happen no matter how far out you are.
