Way OT--can you freeze blue cheese?

So this is probably the worst place to admit this and ask this question...but yall gotta love me, warts and all!

It is no secret that I live for my dirty martini on Friday evening.  Yes, (gasp) I do partake in the adult beverages on Fridays and sometimes I'll even have another over the weekend!!  (Hey, I run it off!!).

Anyhoo--I like to make blue cheese stuffed olives for my martini (remove the pimento and insert blue cheese).  The problem is that blue cheese is expensive and the open container only lasts two weeks before the mold farm starts growing.....I've thrown away two containers now, barely used.

So I'm thinking can you freeze it????

I HATE blue cheese but i loved stuffed olives of different sorts. I also partake in adult beverages but im going to go with what my surgeon said and stop for a month and see if it makes any difference. if it does then i'll quit if it doesnt then i'll continue with my beer/wine consumption.

Sorry im no help to your question but i wouldnt see why you couldnt freeze it.

How to Freeze Blue Cheese

Aged, mold-laden blue cheese is versatile and flavor-enhancing. Blue cheese is perfect in salads, pasta dishes, breads, vegetables and even desserts. And though it doesn't seem as if cheese aged in a damp cave would take well to your freezer, blue cheese is easy to freeze. It freezes quite well, too, which means that you can have it on hand whenever you need it.

Things You'll Need:

  • Knife
  • Plastic wrap
  • Freezer paper
  • Heavy-duty freezer bags

Instructions:

1.         Remove blue cheese from its original packaging.

2.         Slice the blue cheese into half-pound pieces.

3.         Wrap each piece tightly in plastic wrap.

4.         Wrap each plastic-wrapped piece in freezer paper.

5.         Place the wrapped pieces into heavy-duty freezer bags.

6.         Label and date the bags.

7.         Store the bags in your freezer at no higher than 0 degrees F. Blue cheese      frozen properly will keep indefinitely, but for the best quality use it within     six months.

Tips & Warnings

  • Thaw blue cheese in your refrigerator. This typically takes two to three days.
  • Blue cheese is best served at room temperature. Remove thawed blue cheese from your refrigerator about one hour before serving.
  • Discard blue cheese if it tastes rancid, emits an odd odor or has mold that is not native to the manufacturing process.

Hi Kim,

This tip is going to cost you $1,861.00.  LOL   Sorry, I just could not resist.   :O)

About adult beverages....I have tried and tried and tried to drink adult beverages, and I just cannot.  They just make me have a sick feeling.  Does not matter what or how little I drink.  I just cannot do it.  Black cherry kool-aid is walking on the wild side for me, LOL.
