Finally Hump Day!  No exercise for me tonight--the old joints need a day off!  Of course I'm headed to Publix to do the weekly shopping and to get my penny item!

We are doing an 8.6 mile hike this Saturday and I'm a little scared of it!  It is "off trail" hiking--no trail, just GPS.  Which means it will be lots of climbing and sliding (I'm sure I'll go butt first down some hills) and we even have a crossing over a downed tree............hmm.  If I live through it I'll post pics!

Food today:

B-1/2 c cottage chs with NSA peaches and 1/2 ww english muffin
S-Kashi bar
L-blackeyed peas
S-grapes, Chobani pineapple
D-roasted chicken from Publix and leftover green beans

Dessert-jello with pineapple

that sounds awesome. i'd love to hike. i probably should get in better shape first. ive never been hiking but it sounds like so much fun!

last night i did 10 minutes on my aunts elliptical.

Tonight i'll do 15 minutes on mine. Is it just me or do the bigger ellipticals glide better? i HATE my elliptical and i think its bc i was use to the ones at the gym. Jan (my aunt) bought one from a yard sale thats much nicer than mine and it glides much smoother and its so much easier to work out on. So, i've decided to sell mine and get a bigger one or a treadmill. Regardless im selling mine bc i hate it and never get on it. im determined to this month bc i have a goal for the 24th when i go the gyno dr to be a certain weight. I'll NEVER reach it without exercising.

I weighed this morning because im a sucker for every day weighin i wish i could only weigh once a week but i cant. Its amazing what just making better choices can do. I gained weight on vacation but im down 2 lbs in just 2-3days (i weigh on Sunday to see the damage from vacation) so im glad to know its coming off. I wont weigh again until Sunday hopefully.

Anywho todays foods:

B-1/2c cottage cheese w/ NSA peaches and 1/2 WW bagel thin
S-pineapple orange protein shake
L-roasted chicken breast salad
S- pineapple orange protein shake
D-baked chicken of some sort w a veggie.. Ive GOT to go to the grocery store.

All elipticals are not created equally!  The more you spend, the better the smoothness and range of motion.  I have one (a mid-level one) and it is fine, but I get too bored on it so I don't really use it.  Last year I invested in a good quality running treadmill and that has been a great investment!  I recommend you go with that instead of the elliptical (if you like walking and jogging!).  If you really like the elliptical, it is a good low impact workout, but it is best to invest in a good quality machine.

I have the attention span of a gnat so I have to constantly change it up--my faves though are P90X and jogging outside--and of course hiking!

Have a great day and keep your eye on that goal!

i LOVE the elliptical. i use to do 60 minutes on it at the gym back when i went (in 08) I can get on there turn up the music and go good for a while. i just HATE mine.

Are you selling yours? or have you already sold it? Im selling mine and may be interested in it if you havent already gotten rid of it.

I have p90x but im sooo chicken to even try it. ive never even put the dvd in

i have the wii fit which i like so im going to start swapping between it and the elliptical. The treadmill bores me. if i do anything other than walk i feel like im going to fall off of it. I'd like to start jogging/running. but i think id have to do it outdoors.

I hadn't considered selling it, but I could!  You'll have to come to Bham and try it out.  We just don't use it, and I know I probably won't (it was great when I was first starting out on my fitness journey--very good for my knees!).

Do not be afraid of P90X--yes, it isn't a "starter" workout, but like anything else, you can modify it and just do a few reps (that is what I did for months!!)  They demonstrate several options in the workout.

I started my daughter out on it and I've got her modifying some things....very doable!!

Let me know if you want to come for a visit!!

Hey stranger!   I just started the P90X system a few weeks ago. You can easily overdo it if you don****ch it. So dont be afraid to do the mods they allow for. It will kick your butt but it feels good afterwards!

Yep!  The first month I cried like a girl everytime I did it and had to crawl up the stairs.  Now I still get a little soreness, but I can do the whole workouts with little mods (except those freakin pull ups....I am STILL using the chair!)

Hilary,

I am a weigh every day type person too.  I can't help it.  I know we aren't supposed to do that but if I am 1 or 2 lbs higher one morning, I am much more apt to watch what I eat that day to make sure it comes off the next morning......keeps it from sneaking up on me!

I think you are doing great.

HAHA!  Yeah i think this exercise program was originally created as a torture procedure. LOL

And use the chair if you have to.  before you know it you'll be ripping those pullups un-assisted!

Trying to get back on track now that my schedule is back to normal! Having a lot of time off during the holidays is great, but not for my eating habits!

B - Protein Shakek
L - Chicken Noodle Soup Broth (I only like the broth, strange, huh?) and some Goldfish crackers
