Holiday eating
The season brings lots of eating all that yummy stuff and if we are not careful , we will add on a little extra stuff we dont want :) We always say " I will start after the holidays to get it off"..Been there many times....I revisit those places myself lol
I have found for MYSELF if I am wanting to lose , I have to do simple meals ,,,,meat and veggie ,salads ,fruit . NO creamy add in sauces etc ..... NADA
For instance at Tday I had , EXTRA LEAN smoked ham , green beans , a baked sweet potato with the lowfat Promise and cinnamon added on.. I had deviled eggs with low fat mayo ...I had just a little of all of this as I couldnt east all that but you get the idea ...For dessert , I had made a Splenda Pumpkin pie with Sugar free CoolWhip ,,,
That pumpkin pie is the best I have ever had to be honest even if you make it with real sugar ..
Anyway .... We have to be mindful all year but especailly during the holidays ,,,You know what , I dont even cook special stuff for the rest of the family.. We have all adapted to eating like this and if they want sugar stuff , they have to bring it :)
I am thinking my special Pumpkin pie i make might be my next posted recipe :)

Exercise last night ( 30 minutes climbing the hills on the treadmill at a jogging pace has given me places this am that i forgot I had :) )

You are so right! Last year I was still in my first year after surgery, so I was still losing during the holidays. Since I've stopped losing in May, learning maintenance has been much harder! And all the holiday goodies is making it even harder because I do not dump!! I am making sure I get my exercise in 5x a week, and I'm weighing every Friday--so far, no weight gain.
I am trying to make good choices 75% of the time during the holidays, and if I see the scale go up, I will clamp down on the eating! Once the holidays are over, I'll go back up to 90% compliant. I am, however, still following the basic rules--no drinking while eating, no carbination, etc.

You are SO correct. Everyone told me when i finally started back on track and said i WOULD lose this weight and i wont eat the crap that i was before. "you better wait til after the holidays" i said NO i will start RIGHT NOW that way when the holidays come i'll already have a head start. I do make good choices 80% of the time i think. Ive been doing MUCH better than before. like Kim, i do not dump so sugar doesnt "bother" me. But im being way more mindful. I will allow myself to have a bite or two of something i see that i feel like i must have. I DO have to have better control than the previous few days and stick to a bite or two, not the whole thing!!!
I set a goal for christmas/first of the year and im 5lbs from that goal. ive lost 10lbs and so im praying i can get off these 5lbs to meet my first mini goal! i know i can do it so im very glad i started a few weeks ago. Any loss is better than a gain in my book!!!

You can do it girl... ANY LOSS as you said is better than a gain anyday .

The further out you are the more like a regular person you become
,you just cant eat as much at one sitting ...THAT IS THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT in my opinion.
Takes alot less to fill us , but wait a little bit and you can eat again.
Grazing many times a day on junk will so make us FLUFFY

I find that I don't want to eat a lot of things that I used to eat. I tried to eat a small package of M&Ms the other night. I ate a few and then just didn't want them. Everythint is too sweet for me. I don't like cake with icing....I eat mini muffins some. When I eat out, I order what I want and plan to eat the left overs later. I have had as many as four meals off of one resturant meal. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach even after four years.
For Christmas, I make the usual foods, but usually only get a tablespoon or so of each dish I want to eat. I find that sometimes even that is too much. I do eat more than most of you do, I see still.
Oh, yes, and I love meranges made with splenda...they make a wonderful low calorie, low fat type of cookie.

I'm so guilty of this it isn't funny! I WILL NEVER BE AS BIG AS I ONCE WAS!!! Lucy and I vowed to each other last night this very thing!! WE are in control. If we wanted to stop someone from breaking in our home, or taking something that was ours, we would fight to stop them. We are stopping food from taking our bodies back over. I have gained more inches than weight. Men are different. When I put pants on and see that I was in a 30-32 and now in a 36, I get mad! Even though I have only gained 20-22 lbs, it sits right in my tummy. Being disabled and no feeling below my legs, they give out on me. Joining the gym didn't do a thing. So! The only thing that can control this is sit ups/crunches and me and my BRAIN!! I HAVE TO STOP EATING WRONG THINGS!! One! Milk. I have become lactose intollerant. That means no carbs because they turn to sugar and are made of milk. My diabetes had been healed, but now, I am back on tablets and shots. I will not be the way I once was!!! Thank you for posting this and thanks for letting me confess w/o being bashed. I need my support. I have missed all of you and my support groups!!!
