Not WLS friendly, but I like to make this for friends during Christmas...

3 eggs
1cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tablespoons amaretto
1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cut in cubes
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350.
Beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and amaretto. Add bread and let stand for five minutes.
Spoon unto baking dish greased with butter. Sprinkle with pecans.
Bake 15-20 mins or until golden brown.
Pour maple syrup over bread and serve.

Oh John...this sounds so good.  I am going to have to try it.  I love challah bread, so I know this will be great.  I began eating that during our sabbat services last year and I love it.  I have never had brioche.

Thanks so much.  I hope you are doing well.  Merry merry Christmas to you!!!!

If you substitute Splenda blend for the sugar, it would make it closer to WLS friends...and used a sugar free maple syrup.  Most of the recipes that I use these days I use the Splenda Blend in and there are still very good.  I make cream pies with it and people seem to prefer the ones with Splenda Blend.  My dad is diabetic, so I use a lot of sugar substitutes.

Shirley, here in my part of Alabama any kind of fancy bread is non existent so i had to learn to make my own.  Not so difficult as you would think!

In larger cities I'm sure Panera or the bakeries in Publix and such would carry brioche and/or Challah.
