for the upcoming holidays?I am NOT cooking this year.  This will be a first.  I'm just not gonna do it.....Well, maybe a tiny small meal.  doubt the kids come over, since they will be at our son in laws (S)familys most of the day.  I think I will cook a turkey in the oven bag and maybe a couple other things.  I am not doing dressing this year  I think everyone will be okay without it.

How are you going to deal with the holiday food choices.  It's gonna be hard, but WE CAN DO IT.
I always make something sugar free and other nutritious entree's when going to a family get together  No one knows the difference and when I tell them they can't beieve it and always asks me for the recipe.  There are a few recipes on my profile if anyone would like to take a peek.  God luck and God bless.  Please share your thoughs here on this thread so we get some new ideas.  I'm leaning towrds ham or turkey.  Which do you think>?  I think I'll do turkey for Thanksgivine and ham for Christmas.  What do you think?

For Thanksgiving, I'll be cooking as usual.  All the favorites, except this year I'm not doing pumpkin pie, I'm doing pumpkin cheesecake.  Unfortunately, nothing on our menu is "light"!  I'll have to run after dinner!  Ever since I moved to AL (1988) I host "misfit Thanksgiving".  It is along the theme of the island of misfit toys....anyone that we know that doesn't have a place to go is welcome to join us.  We always have a great time, lots of good eats and we end the evening watching White Christmas...then the next day all the Christmas decorations go up!

For Christmas, I host an annual ornament party with about 40 of my friends--I cook lasagna, make chocolate martinis and lots of good desserts.  Then we play dirty santa with no rules!  It gets crazy with all those screaming women!  My family celebrates on Christmas eve with "breakfast for dinner".  I cook a big breakfast and we open gifts.

New Years is when I cook again...all the traditional stuff-ham, blackeyed peas, cabbage, greens, potato salad and baked mac and cheese.

The holidays are   busy around here- but I'm ready and can't wait!

Wow Kim, your holidays sound like so much fun.  Love all the cooking that you are doing.  And what a wonderful Thanksgiving....a Misfit Thanksgiving.  How awesome is that.  We've done that a  few times at our house for Easter lunch.  We would invite people from church that don't have family in town to celebrate with us.  It was always fun.  If I ever get well enough, I would enjoy doing all that cooking and sharing again.
