Stalking is a very serious and growing problem in today's society. I take stalking very seriously and encourage anyone who feels endangered by a stalker or potential stalker, to take action quickly. What you may find harmless in the beginning can turn into a very dangerous or deadly situation.
I say this, having had a friend who was the victim of stalking and who was eventually brutally raped and murdered by her stalker.
This happened in Huntsville, Alabama.
TRACY LYNN MORRIS was the young woman that I am speaking of and the stalker's final acts that led to
Tracy's death took place in the Sherwood Park subdivision of Huntsville on January 2, 1999.
While the barbaric individual responsible for taking Tracy's life now sits on Death Row, Tracy's brother Brian, has continued to seek justice for Tracy and is trying to help prevent others from becoming victims as well.
Brian Morris has a background in law enforcement, having served on the Huntsville Police Department.
With Brian's knowledge of the law and his desire to seek tougher laws related to stalking, he has been working with lawmakers to create "Tracy's Law."
A website, StopMyStalker.com , has been created by Brian as a resource for those with an interest in this subject. I encourage you to take a look at the website and to come back to it frequently as it is
a work in progress.
For those of you in the local viewing area, Channel 31, WAAY-TV is scheduled to air a segment on the 10:00 news tonight regarding stalking and the efforts underway to toughen the laws regarding stalking in the State of Alabama. If you can't see the news tonight, I am sure it will be available at a later time on their website.
Please remember that stalkers are very dangerous people and if ever you feel you have been a victim of stalking, regardless of how minor it may seem at the time, TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY. File a police report and tell those around you of your concerns so that they may be watching out for your safety as well.
