Im wondering if 21lbs in 7week is a reasonable weightloss goal? November 8 is my 5 year surgiversary so that gives me about 7 weeks (maybe a lil more) before my doctors appointment. Id really like to be down atleast 21lbs. Is that reasonable for 5 years post op you think?

Thanks guys! Sunday i hit my first mini goal and was SO excited, well yesterday and this morning i was still up 3lbs. :( I totally hate having a weight issue and think it is something i'll fight for the rest of my life but wish i didnt have to.

Attainable?  yes.  Realistic?  maybe.  Depends on how bad you want it.  I think anyone (with excess weight) can lose 21 lbs in 7 weeks....that is 3 lbs a week which is doable, but the real issue is what are you willing to do to get to that goal?

1)  You must get all of you water in daily
2)  You must get adequate sleep
3)  Stress must be reduced
4)  You must make good food choices every single one of those 49 days--you must get adequate protein, and enough calories so your body doesn't go into starvation mode-journal your food/water/exercise every day
5)  You must exercise, strenuously, at least 5 times a week--for the whole 7 weeks

If you have your heart set on it, then go for it, realizing what you must do to get it.  You definitely have it in you!  Look what you've done so far!  You are a strong woman, and you CAN do this....if you are truly willing to do what needs to be done--the prize is within your grasp.

Make yourself accountable to us every one of those 49 days!  Report in your food and your exercise!  YOU CAN DO THIS!

thanks for pointing out these things to me! i was looking for your response i knew you'd lay it out there for me! I desperate want this so im going to put forth my best effort. Ive been making good food choices i think. (you see them, let me know what i need to change). Im not quite sure how to reduce the stress as im VERY stressed. Work is causing me major anxiety. I know it will get better im just not sure when. I will make a point to exercise morning and night 5 days a week. I know that i cant lose it thru eating choices alone but the exercise is what i hate the most!!!!
I do get in all of my water in via water/unsweet tea. tea in the morning water the rest of the day. i'll try to track my progress here throughout the 7 weeks cus lord knows im going to need some motivation!!

Thanks girl!

Your food choices have been looking good--just make sure you are getting enough each day--some days I think you are starving!  Shoot for 1,200 calories per day minimum (up to 1,500) with 40% (minimum) of your calories coming from protein--remember, you must have good carbs to do these workouts!  If you can get the carbs in before 5:00 each day that is even better...and I like your idea of most food consumed early in the day and less at night.  I still do 6 small meals a day and I love that!  I never get hungry.

As for the stress:  you CAN control it somewhat.  You've got to pledge to leave it at work--which is hard, but it can be done.  I had to do it when my bank was being closed by the FDIC and it was hard, but I forced myself to do it.  I allowed all the stress in the world when I was on their property, but when I wasn't, they had no permission to enter my mind!  I finally conquered it!

I am so proud of you!  and I'm here for you as you tackle these lbs!  I'll keep an eye on your food and let you know what I think (I'm no expert, but girl, I KNOW food!)

Hi Hilary.  You may not want to read my post because I am right where you are.  I am 6+ years out.  The weight does not come off easily.  I was getting discouraged with my loss and my son pointed out that I could not expect to drop like I did after surgery.  For one thing, the more weight you have to lose, the faster you lose.  Now as I struggle to get 25 pounds off it comes very slowly.  I watch the show "Biggest Loser" and am amazed at the results on there.  I also feel that is not realistic.  There is no way I can get the amount and type of exercise they get on that show.
I have contented myself and am thankful for each and every pound that comes off.  I know this will be a battle for the rest of my life and I guess I have my mind set to fight.  Let's keep reminding each other that is if worth it!!!!
