WHAT TO EAT?????
By that time, I could pretty much eat anything I wanted, as long as I followed the protein first rule. Bake chicken breasts or thighs covered in a can of cream soup (I use the mushroom with garlic). The soup makes it good and moist. Also, tuna salad, egg salad, shrimp salad, or chicken salad--all made the same but with different meat.....just experiment with the stuff you add like mayo, relish, onion, celery etc. I also ate beef tenderloin and pork tenderloin and lots of baked salmon! Make a big ole pot of beans and ham (or turkey sausage). These freeze well and are a great source of protein.

What did you doctor tell you about eating? I know that my doctor gave us a list to follow. He did not want us to do beef until we were 6 months out. Chicken is one of those tricky foods that today it may go down good and tomorrow it will not go down and stay. You are still very early out and it is still going to be trial and error. As long as you get your water and some protein in you will be doing good. If you do the tuna salad, chicken salad make sure it is chopped up real fine. Deli meats, taco beans, fish, cheese, eggs, is all good sources of protein. Hope that this will help some. I am 7 years out and some days is still a struggle.
Thanks for the info, My Dr. didn't give a list but he did say water & protein first & to stay away from beef for a while. I have had it a couple of times (ground beef) I did fine but I'm afraid to try any other kind right now .I eat chicken, tuna & fish all the time , I have had pork chops 2 times cut up in tiny pieces & it just won't stay down so I won't eat it anymore (for a long time). I do like beans, cheese & (eggs sometimes). Thanks again.
Like Louise said, what does your plan say you can eat. I could only have dark meat chicken until about 6 months out. I hate dark meat chicken so no chicken for me until I could eat the white meat. It still gets stuck sometimes.
Early out I ate lots of cottage cheese and yogurt. I still eat alot of those things. I also had Wendy's chili and the refried beans from Taco Bell. Some folks can eat eggs early out. I was not one of those folks. They always got stuck. I could not eat eggs with any consistency until I was almost a year out.
Depending on what stage of your diet you are in will depend on what you can eat. Google "The World According to Eggface." Shelly has had RNY and has tons of recipes for the different phases of weight loss eating.
There is also a recipe forum on OH where you can get recipes.
Good luck and happy eating.

I would check with the Dr office. They should have a nutritionist that can give you his recommendations at each phase.
I was on liquids for 3 weeks post surgery.
At 7 weeks out I was still doing soft foods. Eggs, cottage cheese, refried beans, occassionally tuna. I also switched over to protein bars instead of the protein shakes....I hate shakes!
I still use the Pure Protein Bars from wal-mart.....20 g Protein and only 2 g sugar!
I used to keep a food journal on my profile. May have some menu ideas on there during the 2008 months!
Good luck to you.
