Apparently I live in Green Acres, not Athens, AL

For the past three or four days, there has been a skunk in our garage.  He comes in, walks around, eats the cat food and then leaves.  The kids have named him Harvey.  Well, Harvey has got to go.

Yesterday, a hummingbird flew in our garage and could not get out.  We tried to help him but couldn't.  After about 10 hours of him constantly flying around, my son opened the attic, and the little bird flew up there.  I thought great...we will never get him out of there.  When the little bird realized he had nowhere to go, he just fell to the floor and played dead.  We all looked at each other like is he dead?  Then we noticed, he was "peeking" at us to see what we were doing.  He was as still as could be, but he was peeking, LOL.  My son picked him up.  The little bird was very still but peeking, LOL.  We took him outside and put him in a tree.  He peeked again and saw he was in a tree and sat right up.  We got so tickled.

Then last night, we went to Wal-Mart to get a few things, and when we got home I was afraid Harvey the skunk was in the garage, so I was peeking around trying to find Harvey and all of a sudden I realized a snake was in the garage.  I screamed SNAKE!!!  Me and kids about run over each other trying to get in the house.  It ended up the snake was dead but STILL....a snake.  I thought Oh Lord, I cannot handle another wild animal today!

The snake was between us and the car and all our stuff was in the trunk.  I told Becca, my daughter, to come go with me to get the stuff.  She said, "Mama, how old are you?"  I said, "43, why?"  She said, "You are 43, and you want an 11-year-old kid to be your body guard?".  I said, "Yep, let's go!"

Happy to be inside today!

LOL, I enjoyed reading this Kim.  Thank you for sharing.  I've never seen a bird play dead but I would have been laughing so hard at that.  I'm glad you were able to set him free.

Now, one question.....did you make your daughter stand in front of you as you ventured into the garage or behind you?????  LOL

LOL Debbie!!  Becca was behind me, LOL.  The little heifer kept telling me, "Mama, that is not a snake.  It is a worm!"  It was NOT a worm.  It was a snake.  It was 10 inches long.  My husband and brother both said they didn't think it was poisonous, but I am just glad it is dead.

I'm glad it was dead too.

Talking of dead...........I've had my grandchildren for going on 3 nights now and I'm ready to kill them.   LOL  I'm just kidding of course.

We're headed out to the river tonight.  Lots of snakes, rats, racoons and other critters out there.  The kids love it though.

Have a great weekend!!!

Let's just hope that your cat does not try to get rid of the skunk or your whole house will smell like a very stinky Harvey.
