Question? Suggestions?
After RNY, can you eat lo-mein noodles? I hope to be able to enjoy these after surgery. Maybe if I chew them up really good?
How about lasagna?
I am hoping you can have what you want in moderation. I just don't know. I really hope I end up with no appetite at all, but then again, that is probably not good either.
Ten years ago, when I went through a divorce, I lost 40 lbs in 4 months without trying. I was just so sick from the emotional upheaval. I ate what I wanted. I just could not eat but a few bites or I would get sick. I kept that weight off for five years.....until I got married again, LOL.
On another note, my little girl is sick and has been for 9 days now. She has lost 16 lbs. Please pray for her.
Thank you all,
Kim

That is terrible about your daughter. Has she been to the doctor? That's a lot of weight to lose in such a short time. One of the girls here in the office has been sick for about a month now. She just can't eat without getting nauseated or hurting. They are doing some kind of test next week to see what they can find. They've ruled out an ulcer or hernia. She's has her gallbladder out already. She has lost about 20 pounds and doesn't look well at all. Take care of that baby. And I'll be adding her to our prayer list this morning. Is it Becca?
I have not had chow mein noodles but only because I've never cared for them. I have eaten lasagna. Small portions are not going to be bad for you now and then. I would let that be a treat though - not a regular food....unless you use light sour cream, light cheese, etc.
I think losing weight other than a life change hardly ever stays off. You especially need to take this time now Kim to change your way of thinking. For a while you are not going to care if you eat or not but believe me, your appetite will return and you will eventually be able to eat more. Now I cannot eat nearly as much food as I did before WLS. I think my problem is the choices I make.
I lost close to 50 pounds when I was going through chemo but unfortunately I have begun to put it back on. I'm watching what I eat now more than ever. I do not want to get back to 240. Of course that's still 100 pounds less than what I started out at. I had lost down under 200 when I had my surgery and I want to get back to that again. I did when going through chemo but now it's creeping back up close to 215. Gotta nip it in the bud NOW.
I've enjoyed getting to know you and hope that we can meet in person one day. I have attended a couple of our reunions and hope that you'll be able to. It's great getting to know the people on this board. I've made some good friends.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this. My husband and in-laws eat nothing but chinese so I have had to adapt to it. I'll take good ole american food any day. When we do go out to eat I start with a salad and believe it or not I cannot do much more than that. I will eat just a tiny bit of steamed rice with a little pepper steak on top. I also love the fruit bar. Chinese and I do not get a long real well. I'll have to go to the restroom before leaving and its either one end or the other that works. It's not because of over eating - I think it's what they use in their food.
Debbie,
Yes, it is Becca that is sick. She has been to the doctor twice. They tested her for strep, urinary tract infection, and blood work to include a test for mono. All of it came back negative. The doctor put her on a steroid dosepak and told me to give Becca acetaminophen alternated with ibuprofen. She goes back to the doctor again Monday. She actually ate a little bit of corn last night and today she has eaten some Trix cereal so far. She just asked for some baked chicken so I am going to put that in the oven in just a few minutes. It just breaks my heart when a child is sick.
Thank you, Debbie, for praying for Becca.

I'm just glad she can eat at all and I know you are too. She may need to go easy on her tummy by eating soft foods.....soup, etc. Of course, I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure. Steroids usually cause an increase in your appetite so maybe she'll be able to get more and more food down. I know you're concerned. We would always rather be sick than our kids.
I won't be back online until Monday but I will keep Becca on our prayer list.
