I am moving to Auburn and will be working in Opelika.  Does anyone know of a support group that meets in or near the Auburn/Opelika area?

Hi Paige.  I don't live in that area but we have several people who do.  They don't post much but I think they read and keep up.  Maybe they will answer your questions about a support group.

Where are you moving from?  Hope you like your new home!!!

I have lived in GA for the past 3 years, but lived in Andalusia, AL most of my life.

We have some good friends in Andalusia.  We sing and preach.  We have been to West Highland A/G several times and have very good friends there.  We have also been to Brooks A/G in Red Level.

I will tell Dixie Bishop to come over to the board and tell you about possible support in the Oplika area.

Paige - I am in Auburn and I am trying to put together a support group. I have emailed a couple of other people I know and asked if they knew of anything that already existed...One lady told me that there used to be something in Lee county, but she doesn't think it meet anymore. She would be interested in a support group as well.

I think we can get something started in the near future!
I'll keep you posted.

Good job Mary!!!!  If I were in that area I would be part of that support group also.  I don't have a support group in my area either.  Most of the people around here are 5 or more years out and we have returned to life as usual (or so it seems).  I am 6 years out.  I have put on 40 pounds from my lowest weight (and I did not reach goal).  I think that would indicate I still need support!!!  I lost 6 pounds and plan to step it up a notch and get even more off.  I don't have a local support group but plan to use this OH site as my support!!

:) One of the folks I spoke with is several years post-op and mentioned that she could use that kind of environment again to get back on track!

I'm sure that it's all too common that after the excitement of weight loss wears off a bit and you've gotten to your goal (or almost there) your brain kind of relaxes away from the subject.

I think that being so close to my surgery date that all of this is very much my little world! I am revolving around this event in my life for a little while to give me the encouragement that I need to succeed! :)

... I am not working on seeing about getting some meeting space that kind be more private so everyone can talk freely about issues.
